Our facility used to have a 36 hr midshift position (Monday -Thursday, 10a-7p, and a 7p-4a).
While I did not do it on a full time basis, I filled in on occasion, and it seemed to fly by. Not sure how doing it on a regular basis would be.
Also, anytime I work mid-shift, I would always start off telling the charge that I get off at XX:00, and I will be leaving at that time, so unless they want to take those patients, plan for it. If you don't, you will end up working over, which is not acceptable. They don't expect a regular day/night shift person to stay over to take care of the patients till they are gone, why do they expect it of mid-shifters?
After dumping the patients on the charge a few times, they will learn.

Hi guys, does anyone worked 10 hour shifts? I am tempted to do 4 x10s for a midshift. But then I realized it might feel like I am working 4 12 hours! haha Anyone worked 10s before who can share their experience?
Thank you!
