Hospitals paying for our kids' education

Hello all,

I just recently heard from a coworker that she heard rumors of hospitals paying for your kids' education. Is this just an urban myth?

The only paying for education by hospitals that I've ever heard of is tuition reimbursement for employees, and it usually comes with stipulations. Where I work, you must not quit within a specified time after the last reimbursement or you have to pay everything back in full as a lump sum. You also must meet certain grade requirements- C for undergrad and B for grad. Not sure how that would work for children of employees. Rumors are just that- rumors- until they are backed up by fact.

I know of some university-affiliated hospitals which offer this benefit, because they are divisions of the university itself. Tuition benefits for spouses/children to attend that particular university are not an uncommon benefit among university employers.

a waiver of tuition is available to dependent children of faculty, managerial/confidential exclusions, and university health professional (uhp) staff enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at the university of connecticut and its regional campuses.

you are responsible for books, room and board though. it just covers tuition.
