Hi!
I worked for seven years as a Registered General Nurse in a medical Institute. Before that I have 3 years of experience on a primature unit.
I would love to work in a newborn unit if I can. The last 5 years I have been here I couldn't work. Do you think I have a chance? If not, I will work anywhere.
I appreciate your comments!

Do you still have a current license? Just because you haven't worked isn't the issue, but if your license is not current, then that will be the biggest issue for you.
But thinking it over, if you are waiting for your Visa Screen Certificate, that means that you have taken either the CGFNS exam, or the NCLEX exam, so then there should not be any issues for you.
In the US, as long as you keep your license current, in ast least one state, then there never is any issue.........however, if you let it lapse for a number of yesrs, then there will be issues with it.
Hi! :)
Yes, I do have my current licemce in NYS. :balloons:
I don't think they are going to hire me to the neonatal intensive care unit. The primature unit where I worked was in between the healthy neonates and the NICU. I have 7 years of experience wit adults, so that should be fine in an other unit, right? (like medsurg) What is the name of the unit with the rooming in?
It is called Mother-Baby Unit. In some facilities, you are cross-trained for Labor and Delivery as well. It just depends on what the particular facility has available and how their units are situated.
Do you want a teaching facility, or a smaller community hospital? Is Long Island out of the question?
Hi Suzanne! :balloons:
My husband is goint to college in Queens so we prefer to stay in the city. Some places are not far on Long Island and I can take the train but I can't travel 2 hours to work.I would love to work in a Teaching Hospital but if that doesn't work smaller facility is fine as well..
Thanks!

Hi!
I am a nurse from Europe. I am waiting for my visa screen certificate. In the meantime I would like to search for a place to work. Do you know any hospitals that like foreign nurses? I would like to work in Manhattan or Queens.
Thank you!
