I live in an area where the cost of living is close to average for the U.S. We have 2 kinds of unit-based educators. The lower level requires only a BSN and those folks have a salary range about that is about 10% higher than that of a staff nurse. I am not sure of the exact limits on that range.
We have a higher level of educator that requires a master's degree or above. I have that level of position and am at the very top of our salary range at about $92,000. Staff Development positions are often very attractive in terms of pay and scheduling -- and I have never understood why so few young nurses consider the field as they look at possible career advancement.

A coworker got hired as a Nurse Education coordinator at a large hospital for the NICU unit. She claims to make $95K a year. When I research nurse educators the salary is much much lower. Anyone have any info on Hospital Nurse Educator salaries?
Just doing some research :)
