Okay, I sent my application in for Early Decision to Hopkins...I have applied for the traditional BSN program. Originally, I had planned on applying for the ABSN, but the more I learned about Hopkins, the more I wanted to spend more time there and soak up all that they have to offer. Their opportunities for community outreach are amazing, and I really wanted to participate in a summer program.
So, who else is applying? Good luck to all!!!
These were numbers given to me over the online chat that was administered by JH SON. And they also told me that both would be just as competitive. They also said it was possible to be considered for the traditional program if rejected from the accelerated program upon request. I guess the information given to me could be outdated. :)
And they also told me that both would be just as competitive.
The ABSN has more applicants (at least in the past 5 years) and thus is a bit more competitive if you consider the sheer numbers v. the available spots. However you are the correct if you mean that the criteria assessed are the same for both tracks.
Hi there,
This is my first posting (though I have been a fan here for months) and when I discovered this thread I just had to join! I applied for early decision traditional bsn class of 2011 as well. I am glad to know that I am not alone in this crazy wait!! They send a letter but I have heard that in the past they won't hesitate to email you after the 15th if you don't know yet.
This is the only school I want to attend but if I don't get accepted then I will apply to umbc and towson. I will also do a back up app for the ccbc essex (that's where I'm completing my prereqs) program as well.
The open house was so informational as someone mentioned in previous post. Have you all been checking out the blogs http://www.son.jhmi.edu/blogs/blogs/default.aspx from the students currently attending? I swear they are soooo theraputic, they make you feel as if you are already there!
Good luck to everyone sharing the same wait!!!

Accepted cohort size can range from a low of 120 to a high of 150, just an FYI. Of approximately 1,000-1,100 applications received to both ABSN and Traditional BSN programs, 600 are applying specifically for the ABSN track, and the remaining 400 or so for the Traditional. Some who do not get accepted for the ABSN (due to perhaps an inappropriate fit to an accelerated track) may be offered a place in the Traditional cohort.
Yes, they will notify accepted applicants by phone. The decline notifications will arrive via postal mail.
