Hello everyone!
I'm not sure if this is really an appropriate request, so please bear with me. I am very interested in attending onondaga community college in Syracuse NY to obtain my ADN. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to speak directly with anyone familiar with this program. Maybe just a phone call or even a meetup for coffee if that would be possible. I am also very interested in psych nursing as well as palliative care/hospice. I know that there are sometimes opportunities to shadow at some of the hospitals in the Syracuse area, and I am definitely looking into doing that. I have a goal of speaking (even briefly) with at least 10 nurses before I even set foot in nursing school. I'm also pursuing a medical assisting program (also at OCC) to get some experience on the 'front line' of patient care; I've been a medical lab tech for 24 years, so I am certainly older than most nursing students. If anyone has time for a brief chat over a cup of coffee or cocoa, I would be very grateful. I'm just starting out and I really want to hear from the real nurses/nursing students and I'll admit I am having a hard time knowing where to start. Youtube has been a great resource as well. Perhaps anyone so inclined could get together in about a month from now? I know that generally things are a little bit slower between Christmas and New Years. My sincere thanks for any contacts and/or advice!!

I'd be happy to meet up with you. I'm finishing my first year in OCC's nursing program and I really enjoy it. I'll send you a PM. :)
Hi Jess,
Thank you so much for responding! I tried to send you a PM but I am not sure if it was sent as I don't have very many posts/topics. Hopefully you received my response and can make arrangements!
