car used for HH

  1. Hey all,

Just out of curiosity, if you are a HH nurse and use your own car, what kinda car do you use? What part of the country are you in to use this car, meaning - do you use an SUV in the more rugged areas of the US and more gas efficient vehicle in other areas. I drive chevy SUV - get about 26 miles on the highway, drive an average of 150 - 200 miles a day. I have had it about a year and have about 30,000 miles on it. Don't want to wear it out and thinking maybe a more efficient vehicle but love the extras I have on my vehicle for the amount of driving I do.

    Thanks for replies!!

I've got a hybrid. Love the gas mileage! But I really hate putting all those miles on it. Oh, well.....

Starting out in hh, just drove the car I owned at the time, a Volvo. Killed the Volvo before its time. Now I drive a hybrid. Unfortunately it is not one of the models that gets good gas mileage. If I were to move to an area with bad weather, would buy a 4WD vehicle.

Hyundai Santa Fe here. While not really that much snow to count on, lots of muddy driveways and steep hills. The 4WD most certainly will come in handy if and when we do get our occas'l snows.

I'm mountain/rural, so lots of unexpected twists and turns to navigate, and even gravel or dirt roads still remaining locally.
