Home Health in Colorado - Help please

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi Colorado nurses,

I'm trying to get some information on working in home health in the Colorado Springs or Denver area. Skilled visits, not shifts. Can anyone give me some information on what it's like, what are some good companies, and what the pay is like, either per visit or salary? I'd appreciate it. I am experienced in home health and will have a BSN by the time I move to CO.

Thanks!

My husband works for a large home health company. It's called Brightstar. It's not PDN. I don't know what the pay is for RNs, though.

Also, Centura Health has a home health division.

Maxim healthcare pays RN around $25/hr. There is also professional pediatrics homecare if you like kids.

Compassionate pays $45 per visit, more for new intakes. Not sure if they hire new grads.

Doesn't sound like the OP is a new grad.

Just checked out craigs list for the CS area and saw home health listings for Core Care, Interim, MGA, Maxim, and Right At Home. There are probably more.

I am an RN-BSN with have less than a year exp. New grad of CU. I began working with Professional Pediatric Home care and it was the best decision I've made. They assign you to cases that suit your individual skill-level and they're very good at training and making sure you feel as comfortable as possible with these children during the orientation phase... as most of these children are vent/trach cases. There's always a meet-and-greet with the children's family so that you both can obtain a proper introduction and are able to get a feel for each other. And if for any reason you and family end-up "not clicking", they're happy to assign you with a case that you'd be more comfortable working with. You're actually assigned a case and you stick with that particular case. I've built some wonderful relationships with these families. Most of these families consider you an extension of their family. Watching these kids progress is pretty awesome. They're an awesome company to work for. I started at $24 because I was a new grad. You get $1/hr night and $1/hr weekend shift differentials as well. So as a new grad you can make $24-26/hr depending on what shifts you pick up. You don't hop from patient-to-patient as they do in adult home health. They're usually hiring. The Children's Hospital keeps the company pretty busy.

Correction. Making $27.50/hr night shift as a new grad. Wages have changed.
