i applied in different nursing positions, hospitals, LTC, and etc... I have a couple of interviews. Today, i had an interview for the HH care RN position. I dont know if i get hired, the interviewer just told me she will call me next week for the orientation.
Now, the pay is $85 per visit and $0.45/mile for mileage. They also offer medical insurance, and bonus and paid vacation if you made 30 visits in 1 week.
I am a new nurse here in USA. I don't know if this is a good deal. Your opinions will be helpful.
Thank you.

When I did home health scheduling back on 1997, the RNs were making 85 per visit plus mileage. That's in Virginia. I'm not sure what they are making now. But that's a sad commentary on our failing economy if the rates haven't changed at all in 16 years.
But wow, I just did the math! If you can manage thirty visits a week, that's 132,600. That's pretty sweet.
yeah, It's actually good money. But what I really want is hospital experience. But anyway, I don't wanna be picky for my first job. So if since 1997, the pay was 85, then it's really a failing economy... it's like past 10 yrs and it didn't change. sad.

30 is a lot of visits for an RN. The usual is 25. However, the money is good.
thanks for the info. I agree 30 is a lot. Anyway, I am not forced to get 30 visits in a week. I am just new to HH care. Although I have 2 years exp in the Philippines, Im still a new nurse here in USA. I know the first month will be hard and confusing.
I dont really have much idea about Hh care. There will be orientation though, and I will be accompanied by a Nurse for my first 5 visits with different procedures. I pray it all goes well.
The hardest thing about HH is finding a place in the home to set up your stuff and work. People live in sometimes squalid conditions.
Good luck!

What's the name of your home health company and where is it located?

Uh - I don't think it is a good idea to try to begin your US nursing career in Home Care. It's not a good area for new grads, and that is essentially what you are. It doesn't seem as though the agency is going to provide you with adequate orientation and training. Home Care is a very different practice environment, and since it is not really covered in most nursing programs, chances are you aren't aware of all those differences. This could prove to be a huge liability issue for you in the long run.
Thanks. That's what Im thinking too. Im still applying in LTC though. And will start as volunteer nurse in Memorial hermann.
Where is it located ?
