I work in home care with Home health aides and I am the only nurse. We all give meds and one of the aides has accused me of not giving pills to our client. She told the boss and said it happened 4 months ago.I dont remember doing this and if I witheld pills i would have wrote it on the med sheet and why. This has really upset me as this just came out of the blue. I am not sure how to protect myself in this situation. any thoughts?

i think it's important for nurses to be assertive at times, especially if you think that you're accused of something you're not guilty of.. I'm sorry for saying this but i think that this health aide is just probably trying to make you feel down. Don't let yourself be affected by these kind of people.. Let your side be heard by your boss, and it's up to your boss whom he / she will listen to.

If I were you I would be fighting mad, and I would bring his/her you-know-what into the office to discuss this out in the open because we wouldn't want any back stabbing or secrets.
And why mention it four months later? Sounds like a trouble-maker to me.

I already advised you to get another job and resign. You can resign now or resign once you have accepted a job offer. It's your reputation and your license. Get out of there!

You have had ongoing problems with this job. I would leave before these aides cost you your license because it's clear they aren't going to stop until you are out of there regardless of what you do and how good a nurse you might be.

if you resign then thats almost an admission of guilt. i'd fight it.
if it was 4 months ago it's odd that they'd just bring it up now
your license is not in danger unless there is objective proof. allegations don't mean squat.
and, there's always the chance maybe you did withold meds. Med diversion is easy, and not out of the realm of possibility statistically speaking, especially in nursing homes. just saying.

This HHA needs to be informed that when you slander or libel someone you had better be prepared to defend yourself in a court of law.........
I would tell her that you want her to drop the nonsense. If she doesn't get you what you want, your attorney will get it for you.
