congratulations! and i so agree about the sleep, the last test i was up real late studying, studied for it more than my others, and still did quite a bit worse. i think sleep makes all the differences, because i was up late i was panicking about not getting enough sleep then panicking more because i was panicking and it just was not a good thing! i like to say on nights before the tests, i usually study no later than 8 PM, then i do something i really enjoy, whether just laying around, getting on facebook, hang out with friends, whatever. then at 10 PM i'm in bed!
Thanks everyone, it's just what I needed, I was feeling so down, I mean I was happy to still pass my last class, but I did so much better first semester that I was really loosing my drive. Now time to start studying for our next 2 tests next week and we missed a day of lecture from the snow storm so we have to learn that on our own. :|
tiffanyleigh0212 it really can make such a huge difference. Having the migraine the past few days really wiped me out. I have 4 kids and husband left back to Cali the day before it started, so I was so drained yesterday. I tried to study but knew that I was pretty alert in lecture the week before spring break and felt like I knew the material well enough, so by 9 I took an ambien (have bad insomnia and days I know I NEED a good sleep I will take one) anyway, was in bed and asleep not long after 10. I was up before my alarm went off, felt well rested this morning, did my tests and did great. Seeing my change from first semester (where I forced myself to get good sleep) and the first half of second (where I barely passed and often got no sleep to 2-4 hours of sleep) it's not hard to put 2 and 2 together!!!!
Congrats on the good grades!
Last semester I JUST passed Fundamentals. So when I got a couple of good grades on the first 2 tests in OB/Peds I was happy. But then the last 2 tests have been ok (I passed but it was JUST passing) I decided to ask the teacher if I could see what I got wrong. And it was frustrating. B/C a couple of the questions I missed (which would have put me at a score I was ok with) were STUPID mistakes. Ugh. Like not reading the question right. I think I was getting an "attitude" saying "yeah- this stuff is pretty easy- I get it, I don't need to do too much".
So for the test we have Monday- I'm doing the set of questions my teacher gave us (didn't do that on the last test), and the questions that the tutor posts.

Thanks everyone, it's nice to have a place to be able to share where people will understand.
Cheryl, that happened still on these 2 tests, had I read one of the questions right (it said stage and I automatically assumed phase) for labor, I would have even done better. I also messed up a math question for a stupid mistake. Had I taken my time and read through it I would have gotten it right. One thing I have started doing that has helped a lot on the dumb errors, I use a highlighter on my test, I highlight the key words and what is being asked in the question. Then after I always go back and match up my scantron to my test, (can't tell you how many times I caught myself bubbling wrong). Anyway, since I started doing this, I have cut down on a lot of the errors a lot. Not all the time obviously, but a lot better then what I was doing.
wow 93% for an A? that's BS....but congrats on your test scores
BS how? I ask because I know some nursing schools are stricter and some are more lenient. So wondering which way you are wow'ing LOL We are, 93-100 A 85-92% B and 77%-84% is a C.
Most our exams are 20-30 or 40 questions, so not a large margin to still get an A which stinks, but it is what it is. On our 20 point exams we can't miss more then 1 to get an A.

I have posted on here a few times about my grades falling in Med/Surge really bad. So I won't repeat the whole story, but I got the worst grades every and managed to pass the class by getting the exact 77% required with not a point to spare. It wasn't that I didn't understand the material and all the errors I would see on test review were stupid errors, I think because I wasn't getting any sleep. My 3 F's I got in that class were all nights I pulled an all nighter. (just goes to show how important sleep is)
So anyway, just started our Peds/OB class right before spring break. Our first Peds exam I got a freaking D it was 20 points and I missed 5. Our instructor said beforehand that most students do bad on it and not to be discouraged if we do (I hate when they tell us that) so I got a 75% D on it, most of the class did do bad on it but I just felt like, here we go again. So anyway, I missed class on Tuesday, we had a 39 question Maternity exam (we have a Peds exam and a Maternity one weekly) and then we were supposed to have a Peds exam yesterday but got called off for a snow storm. I had been out sick, had a 2 day migraine finally had to go into Urgent Care to get treated, and I didn't really get to study much for these exams. My husband who works our of town in the winter came up for spring break so I didn't study much when he was here.
ANYWAY........................I do have a point, so had 2 exams today I got a B on the Peds one and an A on the maternity one, just barely, it was a 94.8% and the cut off is 93. But HOLY COW, when you get in a funk it feels so nice to start seeing better grades again. One of the 2 I missed I realized right when I walked out! LOL
Sooooo I had to get that off my chest. No one would understand better then people that have gone through it before. I was even so happy to get the B. After going through all that with med/surge and the first test here I really was in such a funk.
Lesson learned, NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!!!!! Figure out what the problem is and work to fix it. I know my biggest problem with med/surge was lack of sleep and then getting my first F and then Second I just got so discouraged.
