Hobet testing

The school I have applied to does the Hobet exam. Although Math is my weakness I did pretty good on the math section but horrible on the reading comprehension. How can I brush up on this. I read a ton and have always been an good English student. Help! Am I going to flunk it?

The key to passing the reading is comprehension and speed. If you focus on trying to finish questions fast, you just may have answered 50 questions but actually only got 16 right. Did you get the study guide?? It really helps.

Hi everyone,

the hobet test is simple but different. The reading portion was complicated to me also. You must identify your weakness(main ideas, inferential, purpose, etc.)on reading section, then you will need to time youself.Hopefully you have the study guide by ERI who designed the test.If more information is needed pm me.GOOD LUCK!!

The authors are Michael Frost Phd. and Mitchell Jarvis. Like I said it is a small book. Not much to it.

Sounds like you got the right study guide. Did you do the practice exams in it with a TIMER set? That helped me a lot? Also, I took their somewhat shorter, but still timed, practice NET/HOBET test online for $15.00. That helped even more. Here's the link:

Here's another link for more reading comprehension practice:

http://hfcclab.info/NET/readingprelude.htm (that one says the NET is taken on computer, but I took mine with pencil and paper).

Also, I think there's a sticky at the top of this forum. It's all about the NET.

Chin up, take it again -- and best of luck! :)
