I am currently fighting a felony conviction. I was convicted of a felony in 2007. I am trying to get it expunged from my record (actually it was a wrongful conviction) but no evidence to prove otherwise. I am working with an attorney to get this off my record so I can get my license reinstated and get back to work as an RN. What I need to know is are there hospitals that hire with felony convictions on their record. What we are trying to prove is that no hospital hires with felony convictions and that I cannot work without getting this off my record. So if there is anyone out there who can tell me that NO I cannot be hired with this on my record. The more proof I have the better off I can get this expunged from my record. Thank you all in advance.

Moved to allnurses Nursing Licensure With A Criminal History
Healthcare facilities receiving Medicare and Medicare funding along with state law prohibit hiring for certain felony convictions, see
FAQ: Nursing Licensure With Criminal History for list of felony restrictions.
Hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies have clear restrictions on hiring with felony record.
BON will still have view rights to any criminal history as an adult for purpose of regaining license. Hospital hiring is separate issue -- with flood of new grads and experienced RN's desiring work in this setting in many areas of country extremely difficult to get hired in this setting. There are other settings, especially drug and alcohol and psych that are more open.
Best wishes in this uphill journey.
