Hiring question

Published

Hello all i have a question to ask i finished school in 2010. and its almost time the other classes to finish for 2011. i have no job yet and the others will be done in couple months. i keep trying to find jobs but their is nothing right now. would u hire someone that's done school 1 year ago with no job yet new students are gonna graduate REALLY soon and are more up to date on things then me and they might have the upper hand then i would. SHOULD i upgrade to RN just to keep current on education. I am an RPN/LVN right now if i dont get a job by the end of the year?

any advice? thanks

I live in Canada - Ontario but, you could do a refresher course here that brings you back up to date on material but it all goes back to experience when looking for a new position but I thought once you have a career in nursing, even if you did take a year or 2 off, as long as you did a refresher course you could easily go back into the job market and get hired but i guess not as easy as it sounds

I have never worked as a LPN after I finished the first year of school. The refresher course might be a good idea. Who knows. So Ontario is tough too. I am in AZ.

Good luck to you.

Run on sentence....!

I was trying to be nice..and you took it as being pompous! I feel sorry for you! :uhoh3:

You were looking pompous. This is an internet site. Not an interview. I often make mistakes in my writing, but never double check anything because this is a forum. Let people think what they want about my intelligence, until you meet me in person, you'll never know. Never judge a book by its cover.

get a part-time job if possible. Everyone is feeling the effect of a dull economy. A new grad is a new grad - I would not consider one over the other just due to how fresh they were. Other factors matter much more.
