  1. It's just sick. Welcome to the real world...just sayin'.
  2. I will probably get flamed for this...but if the job you have is so great, why become a nurse? Nursing school is never easy...whether it is LPN or RN. I think I would think long and hard about this. And it will be a long time before you have enough experience as a nurse to work the clinic you are now working in. And starting out a marriage witrh such serious debt? A good idea? I'll let others speak to that. I guess times are much different now. Most college grads have student loan debt. The grass is always greener...just sayin'.
  3. Why ould you EVER recommend bankruptcy to ANYONE? WOW!! Terrible advice.
  4. I think it would be a good idea for you to go to the Director of the program. Perhaps she or he is unaware of the problem with instructors not declaring their individual expectations. Their expectations should be in writing and given to the students. I understand how this can be very frustrating for students. Just my .
  5. I think what you are called as an "aide" and what your duties can be is controlled by each state's Board of Nursing. Just my !!
  6. I think the OP is missing the point of the above reply. Keep in mind that aspirinn would be part of the CHF protocol. All doctors should follow a certain STANDARD for every CHF patient, no matter how they get paid!
  7. I would have never documented the hospitalist not being there in the patient's chart. It sets the hospital up for liability and it really has nothing to do with the code. A doctor was already there (the ED doc). I would have reported it to the Medical Staff Director but never put it in the patient chart. I can see why your NM talked to your husband about it. Bad advice from the Charge Nurse, IMHO. Risk Management is for all in the hospital, not just Administration. Your husband could be called to testify in court about this.
  8. I thoroughly agree with this poster. Nursing hmes (now caled LTC) are not what they used to b e. They get much more acutely ill patients than they used to 10 to 15 years ago. Hospitals discharge patients long before they are ready and send the patients to nursing homes or rehab. Nurses in these environments have to on the ball. I think it's easier being a new nurse in a hospital than at a nursing home or sub acute facility. (please don't flame me for that!) JMHO.
  9. You make $80,000 in Canada because the price of living there is very different from many parts of the U.S. Your home prices are ASTRONOMICAL compared to most areas in the U.S. That's like comparing California to Ohio or apples to oranges! I would never force ANYONE to study for a job they really don't like just because of monetary gains.
  10. If your daughter is over 18, then she must be making her OWN decisions. I would never force anyone to finish anything they didn't want to. My son at 18 years old went to a small college (part of tOSU) for landscaping. He hated it. He lasted three quarters. He is now a successful, union Operating Engineer (operates a huge crane!), has a wonderful wife and an adorable son! He LOVES his job! His wife does not have to work and they just bought a new house in a desireable location. My ex, who was my husband at the time, went ballistic when he quit. Never thought our son would ever amount to anything without a college degree. We all have to do our own "thing". I also agree with other posters that I wouldn't pay for any more schooling. That's on her now. She has to be a big girl now. You owe that to her.
  11. If you look at all the employed people in the world, I think you would find that most, no matter what profession they are in, complain from time to time! Nursing is tough, there's no getting around that fact. But so is education, engineering, medicine, dental hygenist, etc. Be a nurse if you want to be a nurse! Don't let this site or anyone on this sight sway you from your dream! Good luck!
  12. "The school I am hoping to attend has 100% job placement as well." That is not true. If they told you that, someone is telling a mistruth! No school is ever going to promise 100% placement!
