Hi. Yes this freaked me out too! I'm a volunteer for them while attending PCA school and I was checking their job board everyday, when one day it was blank!
HR is across the hall from the volunteer office, so I went to ask about that. The receptionist was unaware??? but said that yes most likely it is a freeze probably until the new year
I just spoke with someone at HR about this yesterday and she said yes there is a hiring freeze and that she didn't know how long it was going to last but to keep checking. She said it would probably be off by the start of the new year ( we'll see). Anyway it freaked me out also. I thought there was something wrong with my computer at first.
There is still a nursing shortage, It's the economy that is causing employers to cut back and enforce hiring freezes. The whole thing is a domino effect. If people can't afford to see doctors and have procedures done, then less money comes into the facilities. It hasn't happened at mine but I have heard that some hospitals have even closed floors due to not having enough patients to staff it. Very sad times right now. Good luck to you!
I would not let one medical facilities hiring trends cause too much alarm. Florida Hospital Orlando is still hiring. There are plenty of jobs out there and I am sure ORMC (Orlando Health) will begin hiring again after the New Year. I would not get all worked up about this as there are plenty of jobs.
Codeda is partially correct.
The website doesn't give you a funny message but there are only a handful of positions available such a PACU nurse at arnold palmer hospital (part of orlando health) and 3-4 pharmacy resident positions at ormc (part of orlando health).
lol. I love my job in the OR at APH but from time to time I still check whats available.
As far as the "receptionist" not knowing: was the "receptionist" actually a "guest service representative?" If so, dont blame them for not know bc they dont have access to the hospital email system and there manager just fails to relay vital information to them. Trust me, I know!

Does anyone know how long this will be? I tried to do a job search at their website, but it says, "Thank you for your interest in Orlando Health, please continue to check our website for job availability." Looks like it's a bad time to be finishing nursing school if there are no jobs.
