  1. thanks everybody, i really appreciate it
  2. Im currently studying for my NET then, TEAS afterwards. Do any current nursing students have any valuable advice for me? What were your study habits? What would you have done differently? Anything? My goal is to aim high on the first try!
  3. WOW! thanks so much! you just gave me the extra push, thanks!
  4. Codeda is partially correct. The website doesn't give you a funny message but there are only a handful of positions available such a PACU nurse at arnold palmer hospital (part of orlando health) and 3-4 pharmacy resident positions at ormc (part of orlando health). lol. I love my job in the OR at APH but from time to time I still check whats available. As far as the "receptionist" not knowing: was the "receptionist" actually a "guest service representative?" If so, dont blame them for not know bc they dont have access to the hospital email system and there manager just fails to relay vital information to them. Trust me, I know!
  5. Dont overload yourself, strive for an A in all your courses and take it one by one if need be. Dont get into a habit of withdrawing+retaking classes Keep all of your textbooks+notes from your prerequisite courses. And try to purchase used textbooks online bc sometimes theyre cheaper. Develop a relationship with your professor bc if you get an A or B at the end of the semester they will be happy to write you a letter of recommendation! Its better for you to ask as soon as the semester is over bc they may forget your face later down the line. Plan for the future! Since you already have a job perhaps you could volunteer between semesters at a hospital. Also research prospective nursing programs and find out EARLY what they are looking for! Finally, stay focused! At times you'll want to quit or think it takes a decade to finish! Trust me a myriad of us has been there! GOOD LUCK!
  6. 1st of all shake off that low self esteem. Chem+mirco are very difficult courses. Most people retake those courses up to 3xs! Just retake mircro and take it alone for the semester if you can. Its not like taking a math course such as calculus; its more like A+P mostly memorization! Go to ratemyprofessors.com and find a good professor. If its nursing youre passionate about then STICK WITH IT!
  7. My GPA is low-----2.8. It sucks but unfortunately I can't undo the past. I have an AA degree, completed all prerequisites and work in the OR. All I have left is to take the NET+TEAS then, I can apply. I plan to study hard and apply to a myriad of schools but, I was just wondering if there was anybody else in the same boat as myself?
  8. TiredMD is correct. Minimum requirements include a baccalaureate degree and those prerequisites. And dont forget the MCAT which is the most difficult and longest standardized test in the nation. Having an RN under your belt will definetly give you an advantage over other applicants!
  9. Thanks to everybody that replied. I guess I forgot to mention that I have worked at the same hospital for the past 3years. For a while I got to see what it was like working in a level one emergency+trauma center and currently I am working upstairs in the OR (both jobs full time.) Some of the institutions that I mentioned earlier also require NET (nurse entrance test) scores or TEAS (test of essential academic skills) scores. If I score high Ill definitely have a better chance, correct?
  10. I have a 2.8 GPA, completed all nursing prerequisites and an AA degree to my name. To make a long story short I was not academically motivated in the past and with much regret wasted my parent's money. Now I am eager to become a CRNA and want to complete school as soon as possible. What are my chances of getting accepted into a BSN program ANYWHERE in the state of Florida? I done my research and found several schools that MAY accept me: South University: 2.5 gpa Florida A+M University: 2.5 gpa Jacksonville University: 2.5 gpa Nova Southeastern: 2.75 gpa University of West Florida: 2.75 gpa Bethune Cookman University: 2.8 gpa University of North Florida: 2.9 gpa WHAT ARE MY CHANCES????????????
