Hello all,
I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

The jacket is required for lab and port wine is the same as wine in Cherokee brands but in Koi it is not the same. As far as the shoes, they have to be all white-laces and shoes. My friend told me that Danskos are the best, but they also come with the "best" price ranging from 120 and up. I'm still trying to find shoes that are comfy and all white...no luck as yet. Good luck to you in the shoe hunt.
Hey simmola, yes she has put some stuff up on blackboard. She put up a "getting started" pdf. She wants us to learn clinical calculations and she put up the syllabus for both clinical and lecture classes. She also asked for replies on what hospital we would prefer. The choices were south bay (sun citycenter, i looked it up), fl hospital carrollwood, or tgh. Tgh is already taken up. Shehasnt gotten back to us other people on the other hospitals. She says that allher announcement go to hawkmailas well so you might be able to see everything se posted. Let me know.
I was told that the jacket was required by my friend who is in the program I don't know if they changed their policies but she said that when we go into lab, we would need it. This may just be her teachers preference, so I would say wait until the first day of class and ask.[/quote']Good point. I have heard the different teachers have different preferences for somethings. Dr. Vega said they were not required, but I'd definitely check with your professor.
Found some decent shoes at uniform city. They were not that expensive, so I lucked out there. We decided to at least start out on the cheaper side of things for now and if I make it through the first couple of weeks and things are going well for me in the program, then I'll invest in something better! For now though, I have to try and minimize expenses after dropping all that on books and tuition!

Does anyone know if the evening professor at DM has posted anything or sent any emails? I do not have access to blackboard. Thanks for any information that you may have.
