Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

so...i guess i'll join the fray. i myself just dropped off my nursing program application for hcc-dm spring 2013. i personally, due to a particularly disappointing final exam score in my microbiology lecture, have about a 3.5 gpa (+/- 0.2). i'm relatively confident, but painfully aware that i am not at "the head of the class" in this application process. now...the fun part - waiting.

by +/- 0.2 you mean you could have a 3.7? that wouldn't be too bad at all...

Ok question for all (since HCC's helpdesk isn't open as I write this) ... where do I go to see which transcripts HCC has received? On Facts.org? Or in Hawknet? I've looked around Hawknet already to no success...

Have you checked Webadvisor? Look under the transcripts and documents received links.

Yes, I've been in WebAdvisor. Under Communication: My Documents I see a form that Financial Aid is requesting but that's it. In terms of Transcripts, I see a link that says Transcripts, Transcript Request, and Transcript Request Status. But I see nothing that says "Documents Received..." is there such a link and am I overlooking something here? I've attended several schools and have sent several transcripts HCC's way. I am in Orlando right now so I don't have the luxury of going to HCC in person about this... :\

No, My Documents is correct that is where things show up and marked as received or needed (including our nursing apps). If you click the link that says Transcripts, select undergrad, they should have all your classes uploaded there.

Okay... found that, thank you. Mine is currently blank in Hawknet (er, WebAdvisor) and according to my records I sent them my first one (to the address on the Nursing app!) on 4/15/12. :\ This makes me uneasy. Will have to call them pronto. :(

Ok so I am reading all these posts and now am confused and discouraged :( I am currently a teacher with my Masters and have decided to change careers and go into nursing. I have just completed my last bit of prereqs and my overall GPA is a 3.14 :( However I see everyone is averaging only their GPA's based on prereqs. Is that how HCC works? If that is the case, based on those 9 classes, then I only have a 2.89. Do I even have the slightest chance?

Based on prior threads from Spring semesters, the cutoff GPA is usually around 3.4 (prereq GPA only) I'm afraid.

Hello everyone, Its my first time here. I apllied for DM day Spring 2013. Regarding the transcripts from other schools, they told me they are going to evaluate it after June1 and it takes 6-8 weeks to post grades. It will be marked as "needed asap" in the document section of HAWKnet untill then. Hope that helped.

But what about on the application where it says something to the effect of "Applicants are responsible for making sure all documents are received by the deadline?" Admissions told me they have no transcripts for me yet I sent my first one in on April 17. Meanwhile I can send the app in now but haven't yet because my transcripts are missing somewhere it seems... :\

Did you submit the whole packet including transcripts? If so it should be there, if you gave them trascript earlier, then they might,ve lost it. I gave them first transcript in January and then decided to submit it again with the packet just in case.

No, I haven't sent in the Nursing app yet. I have applied to HCC and gotten a Student ID# and so forth, and was expecting my transcripts to show up in Hawknet/WebAdvisor. I see nothing yet. I will give it till the end of the week but if I hear nothing I may have to have paper transcripts mailed to me and send it all in in a big package. I don't like the thought of having to pay 2x again for transcripts though, it's the principle behind it I think... :(
