Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Here I am, 16 days after turning in my application, check hasn't been cashed and no documents have shown. I just submitted a ticket asking them for some type of confirmation that my packet didn't get lost in a shuffle. Two and half weeks of not cashing a check is a little much, but then again, maybe I'm just asking too much. I've applied to another school and at least received a letter stating that my application was received. I wish HCC followed the same procedure.

Ok, I don't know why I didn't think about checking my bank statements for the check being cashed. I did that last night and my check was cashed on Jan 15th (I submitted my application on Jan 10th) so at least I know they have my application. My documents still do not show anything yet though. But at least I know its not lost so that makes it a little less stressful. I was in my Life Development class when the Dean of the MacDill campus sat in. I mentioned to a friend about my concern and stated "I just wish they would send an email or letter stating they at least have it"....he chimed in saying that was definitely a good idea and that he would make that suggestion. Not sure if that will actually change anything as I am sure that wasn't the first time they heard that suggestion from a student but oh well, it would be nice and take some edge off.

Hello All. I saw the Spring 2013 thread last October...glad to see the Fall 2013 was started. Finished my pre-req's in Summer 2012...GPA is 4.0. I turned in my app at the beginning of Dec...everything shows "received" on My Documents. I am applying for PC days. I e-mailed the Health Admin. dept. in October to see what I needed to send in with app (per my student advisor's suggestion). She looked up my student ID and told me what paper copies I had to send in with the app...turned out I only needed to send in one transcript from a class I took at PSC back in the 90's. Hope I did all I needed to do. Praying all goes well.

Anyone must reapply for Spring semester if they did not get in the fall semester.

Hello, this is more of a question then a comment, but I was wondering about how long do the prerequisites take, and what is the cost.

I have been trying to get a hold of HCC, but no one seems to ever pick up the phone.

Time is flying by.... The end of March will be here before we know it!!! :-)

Is that when they will be making their decisions?!?! I was hoping it would be more towards the middle of March and I could possibly be celebrating while on my cruise to Mexico!!! Either way, I've been waiting for so long now I don't even notice it anymore! It's out of my hands!

JPickett: Your question is very hard to answer because so much depends on where you are in your academic journey. You need 21 credits of pre-reqs to apply for the NP and they cost roughly $105 per credit hour. One might be able to complete those pre-reqs in three semesters, but that would be assuming that you tested straight into college algebra. If I were you, I would go have a sit down with a student advisor just to see where you stood. There is a plethora of information on HCC's website under the health science division. I hope this helps a little.

Hi everyone. I applied for the fall semester as well. I thought everything was going to be okay, but I've run into a snag. Did anyone else NOT take college algebra and took a higher math instead? I was told upon admission that my test scores were too high and I should not take college algebra, I was put into Pre-Calc. Of course, now the nursing applicant section under progress towards degree requirements says that my stuff is still in progress and that my math is not complete. So, anyone else have this issue ?

Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to have that problem, LOL!

Some people take higher math to trump their college algebra grade but to me if you tested out of college algebra you should be fine. It most likely says that in the system just bcus it's a requirement for nursing but they can also see in the system you tested out of it, it sounds like one of those things the system just didn't catch on to. I am complete opposite I started all the way from pre-algebra lol and it still feels like another language lmao, neways I think ur fine and good luck! I hope we both get in, I can still use a little help in math lol :-)
