Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Well, I called to find out what day we will have for clinicals and found out we will not know until possibly the first day of class. Makes it tough to figure out my work schedule.:banghead:

Agreed! I have to give a min. 2 weeks notice at work to get my schedule changed; not to mention, needing to make arrangements for someone to pick up my kids from school. ~ boohoo

Good Morning Guys,

I ran into a problem and I am hoping you guys can assist me. I submitted all my vaccines on certified background and they are rejecting my varicella vaccine saying that they need a titer and not only the proof of vaccine. I am finding this odd because they accepted all the other proof of vaccines and I did not have to submit a titer. On the HCC form it says that if you don't have a history of chicken pox, two doses of the vaccines is recommended (and that's what I got). I received my first vaccine on July 1st 2013 and the second July 31st 2013.

Did you all have to provide the titer after receiving the varicella vaccine?

Thanks

If you go to SouthShore clinicals are Thursday. I emailed the instructor and she just answered.

They kept rejecting my varicella lab report. I had to online-chat them to get them to put it in manually. You may need to do the same.

Did you email through the HCC directory? I sent one to my professor, but haven't gotten a reply. Annoying part is: I have no way of knowing if she received the directory initiated email or if she is simply not responding to emails yet.

The same thing happened to me regarding varicella vaccine, I think HCC made a mistake when they sent requirements to certified background, you should email Ingrid and Dr Vega, they can override it in the system

Thanks guys!!! :)

Yes, I did through hawkmail. It took 3 days to get a response.

PC Days please check blackboard! Mrs. Crews has emailed us!

So, I sat down to glance over the syllabus, and before I knew it, I had read the whole thing...lol. A little overwhelming to take in all at once. I'm hoping we will review it, because I have a few questions already. Does anyone know what our clinical site choices are? I e-mailed, asking for a list, because I haven't seen one. I did see that she has office hours at LRMC. I thought there were several clinical site choices. I will post her response, in case anyone else needs to know.

An older post on here said PC had LRMC or Florida Baptist depending on the day. Im fine with either as distance wise they are the same, but I am hoping for Thursdays. I think its the last term of Nursing when we will get to pick from a list.

HELLO Everyone! I have a question for anyone ANYONE out there who has concrete information on the uniform policy! I have asked current nursing students in the HCC program and they informed me that Wine bottoms were okay. But as I read through the threads, I see conflicting information, I saw that Cherokee is the brand of choice but the pants do not fit my body as well as the ones I purchased. I have just purchased the Wine bottoms by Couture Scrubs. They are slightly darker than the Cherokee but I love them! So if anyone currently enrolled has solid info on the uniform color please help. Thanks in advance! Also wondering if all white with slight grey (which the pants cover) Nike tennis shoes are allowed instead of nursing shoes.
