Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Grey's Anatomy also has the right color...I am very skinny, so the Cherokee uniform was so big and uncomfortable for me. Grey's Anatomy can cost you around 30 dollars but looks nice. I do not know if they going to be ok with you wearing a different color, but you make feel a little uncomfortable if your uniform do not look the same.

Also, you do not have to use nurse shoes. They just have to look white to their eyes...

HELLO Everyone! I have a question for anyone ANYONE out there who has concrete information on the uniform policy! I have asked current nursing students in the HCC program and they informed me that Wine bottoms were okay. But as I read through the threads, I see conflicting information, I saw that Cherokee is the brand of choice but the pants do not fit my body as well as the ones I purchased. I have just purchased the Wine bottoms by Couture Scrubs. They are slightly darker than the Cherokee but I love them! So if anyone currently enrolled has solid info on the uniform color please help. Thanks in advance! Also wondering if all white with slight grey (which the pants cover) Nike tennis shoes are allowed instead of nursing shoes.

I doubt the slight gray will matter, especially if the pants cover them. I have seen other nursing students wearing Nike tennis shoes. The shoes must be white with no funky colors and must be leather or leather-like- no canvas...Dr. Vega stressed that at orientation. They said wine pants, and didn't specify a brand. I got 1 pair of Cherokee, but I am going to order Dickies Cargo- they are a junior fit, and because I am thin, they work better for me than Misses...they also have some spandex and the material is very soft. The Dickies wine color is the same as Cherokee. I am planning to try on the Grey's Anatomy as well. I don't want to spend a ton of money on them, but I want to be comfortable...I only plan to have 2 sets to begin with, so its not too bad. Maybe you could e-mail Ingrid for clarification...if you do, let us know what she says. :)

OK! Thanks! will ask the professor or Dr. Vega come Monday.

Does anyone have info regarding financial aid? If we are taking 10 credits, what happens to the leftover pro rated amount? Does that amount transfer for summer time use? Do we lose any of the amount awarded to us if we don't take Full Time courses this semester? Thanks for the help guys! Really appreciate it. Also, anyone on here have DM afternoons? Would love to meet fellow classmates =)

Generally unuded finaid dollars can carry over to the summer as long as they are enough to bring you up to full term. So you would atleast need to take 2credit hour class. Also note: that legislation regarding Pell Grant rules changes every year, so the carry over policy may be dropped at anytime.

Anyone have the number/info to the name tag company?

Thank you! And there is a lot of new information on blackboard for DM afternoons classes, including the clinical schedule.

I would like to know if you guys are reading a specific book before the start of the semester? The DM mornings professor has not contacted us so I have no clue as far as what to focus on.

I'm also in the DM mornings and would like to know. I've gone thru the 9 chapters of the med calc so I feel comfortable with that, but do we need to read anything? They are having a meet and greet calculation thing at DM before school starts.

The PC nights teacher told us also to read in the Fundamentals of Nursing book, chapters 27 - 29.
