Hello,
I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.
Thanks!
I'm in the same boat 3.67 pre req Gpa and no letter yet it's making me so anxious...
I know! I really wish they would give you a cut off date as to when you are definitly not getting in. TO ALL THE NEW ACCEPTANCES: what was the response date to accept or decline the new letter that just went out for the alternates that just got accepted????
I have a 3.67gpa. I had my pre-reqs and generals done when I applied. My letter was also dated for the 7th and I live in st.pete and didn't get it until the 10th so maybe it has to do with your location. I did have the option to accept or decline my seat and the envelope was slightly thicker because it had the info for fingerprinting, orientation and drugscreening versus just the letter. I hope I answered all your questions. Don't give up it's not over yet : )
I put my confirmation form and inform consent form along with the $38 in the mail today! I'm hoping they'll receive it soon. It scares me sending letters as important as that one in snail mail nowadays. I'll just be keeping a close eye on my bank account to see when my check goes through! I plan on going to Ybor at the beginning of next week to get the fingerprint/background check done. The criminal background check can take as long as 10 days and has to be done prior to orientation..so don't wait last minute! I've already started looking into books to buy so I can somewhat prepare myself before the program starts. According to last year's HCC thread for Fall, a current nursing student recommended purchasing a clinical calculation book. Math isn't my strength, so I'm planning on buying it. Has anyone already purchased a clinical calculation book? If so, what edition? That person also recommended buying a Nursing Diagnosis Guide. Doenges Pocket Guide: Nursing Diagnosis 12th edition, to be exact. HCC didn't sell the nursing diagnosis guide last year and I guess it really comes in handy when it comes time for care plans. Also, if anyone wants to get a head start on the reading for lecture and clinicals, you can buy an older version of the Potter/Perry fundamentals book online. We will be getting a newer version of this book in our book packets though. From what this person said on last year's thread, read the vital signs, health assessments, hygiene, and infection control chapters - only if you want to be ahead of schedule! I'm thinking I'll just purchase the clinical calculation book for now and focus on that. I'm so excited to start - if you can't already tell! It's been a long waiting game for all of us.
I hand delivered my original application, but mailed in my alternate acceptance. Now I'm kicking myself for not hand delivering that too. I just keep thinking "what if my response got lost getting to them and they didn't even consider me now?!?!" Ugh! This whole thing is making me paranoid.
I also finished ALL pre and co-reqs prior to originally applying, so not sure that really makes a difference.
Does anyone know the health science adimission email? I tried calling everywhere.. Admissions, nursing dpt counselers.. And after spending like an hour on hold no one could give me an answer on whether they're going to let more alternates know or when or anything at all :/ I'm just going to try to email them ... Hopefully tomorrow there will be something in the mail but nothing yet.

I sent everything registered. The other thing you can do to be sure they got it is to check to see if your check was cashed. My check for the background check was just cashed so I know they have everything so far.

I'm going to get all my titers done regardless of my childhood immun. schedule. Every person is different when it comes to length of immunity; some people loose it much faster than the regular schedule. I'd rather spend a little more to confirm immunity just to be on the safe side; I graduated in 98.
