Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Hey all... I'm a "friend" of KKJA8855's over from the Spring 2013 thread. We just got our letters recently. I was denied due to a transcript issue that has NOTHING related to HCC prereqs. Pretty crazy. I'm appealing but no guarantee of anything.

Anyway... I have a 3.52. Low for Fall but hey you never know. Nights/Weekends would be my choice.

I also have the option to do an ABSN at UCF but... I really didn't want to not work for 15 months. So HCC NW would be better for me, in theory.

Decisions, decisions... we'll see what happens, and if I'm destined to join this group in the long run, I look forward to interacting with you all further over the next few months. :D

Did you guys mail in an additional high school transcript with the nursing application? Or can they just look it up on our account?

Yes, but mine was from 1999 (I'm old!) so I had to go to my county school board's archive. I am not a native HCC student (I live in Orlando right now) so I mailed hard copies of all of my school transcripts in.

One lesson me and KKJA8855 can tell you all... once you're ready to submit your app... go through the Health Sciences handbook (on the HCC Nursing site, let me know if you can't find the PDF link) and make sure you have EVERYTHING they require. Send hard copies just in case even if you know they already have it. They will send them back to you if they do (this happened with me).

So even if I sent it(application) in last week, I need to send in my high school transcripts again? I graduated in 2011. Can they still consider me in the application pool if I sent them another mail about my transcript? If that makes any sense...

Verify that HCC has your HS Transcript on file on Hawknet, or anywhere else you can verify it. Call whoever you have to (e.g. Registrar's Office). If you need to send them another hard copy of your HS transcript, do it. Like I said, they will send stuff back to you if they already have transcripts for you that you send again (they sent me 4 hard copies back that I submitted with my app when I electronically submitted them previously; I have over 220+ undergrad credits from my entire undergrad career) [b.A., and two A.S. degrees, and some more].

My pal KKJA8855 will agree with me when I say, YOU must make sure HCC has everything... don't rely on THEM to inform you if you're missing anything.

Hey Hallberry, one idea I suggested over at the Spring 2013 HCC thread which was very well received was to make a poll specifying who is applying for what times, to give everyone on this thread an idea of the ratio of total seats to potentially filled ones, if that makes sense. If you need to see the type of poll I'm talking about, see page 1 here:

I mention this because as creator of this thread, only you can add it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Turned in my application today! If they use the grades I want, I should have a 4.0 prereq GPA. Advisor said I MAY have to appeal, but I'm hoping everything will work out the first time. *Fingers crossed*

Good job with the 4.0 but... why would you have to appeal, especially if decisions are months away? You lost me there. ^_^

I took a standalone anatomy course once, then took A&P I and A&P II when I was preparing for nursing school. I've had a school try to use my anatomy credit as credit for A&P, which would mess up my GPA. They are different courses, the advisor I saw today understood that. The documents I turned in today already show as being received in HawkNet! I was expecting that to take weeks!

*nods* I understand. Again, best wishes, this thread will explode in time (as I experienced with the Spring 2013 thread). Jan 1 will be here soon! :)

Hello,

Can someone please tell me how can I calculate my gpa.

Thanks!

Calculate Your GPA

That explains how to calculate it, although I had 9 prereqs (got a separate grade for lecture and lab for my science courses). If you have any issues with this let me know, I can send you an Excel spreadsheet I made with the calculation formulas built in.
