Hillsborough Community College Nursing - Spring 2018

Published

Hello! I was wondering if anyone else is planning on applying to the HCC nursing program for the spring of 2018? I just finished this rough semester and I was hoping there would be other people on here that I can talk to about this upcoming goal! (:

Yes - all decisions will be sent via email!

You learn pharm as you're learning your fundamentals. We just finished our first month and started to learn medication administration, so not that far into it yet to tell you what you will learn. I believe there is a separate course in the summer, but it is NOT required. The program is actually changing the curriculum starting with your spring cohorts. I don't really remember what will be different as it doesn't really to me. You will find out about your acceptance/denial via hawkmail.

Thank you very much everyone!

Good morning All,

I've spoken to someone from health sciences yesterday and for the Spring 2018 semester, there will be changes to the curriculum, she said the structure is very different (different from any prior semesters) and also the amount of class time, meaning more hours and days in class (for both day and evening) hopefully we find out soon, if I'd have to guess I'd say next week or the week after but I could be wrong. Hawkmail is the way they will communicate our outcome. That's pretty much all of the information I have and wanted to share with you all too.

Have a great weekend!

Did they give you any specifics on like the hours or days?

No, I asked that question but was informed that I would need to wait for the email with any details. There will be more class time though, that was definitely specified.

Hi everyone,

I applied to the Spring 2018 program as well... I keep checking my hawkmail multiple times a day and I have not seen a response yet either.

I am hoping to get in for the Spring term. My GPA is 3.709 so, I am hopeful that will be high enough to be considered.

I applied with my first choice being the evening program. Does anyone know how hard it is to get chosen for the evening program? It is the only schedule that will work for me and I am so nervous that I will not get in at all or not get the evening program.

I have worked so hard and so long that to not get in would be heartbreaking.

Is the GPA that is considered only your GPA on the prereqs?

My overall GPA is 3.709 -- I am not sure what it would be for just prereqs.

I applied to the Spring 2018 program so, hopefully I stand a chance.

They will only be looking at your prereqs GPA. They use your overall GPA if they need a tie-breaker. You can go to this website to calculate your prereqs GPA: GPA Calculator

When they first make decisions, I believe it is only based on our prerequisite GPAs. To calculate the GPA, you take all the perquisites classes and your grade you got in them as well as the credit of the classes and multiply them. They have online GPA calculators of that helps at all (:

I believe if they are making a decision between two students is when they will use overall GPAs to make the decision

College GPA Calculator

I use this one a lot (: I hope that helps

Thanks for the link... I am getting a bit nervous and anxious about getting in, especially if 300-400 people apply each term.
