Hello! I was wondering if anyone else is planning on applying to the HCC nursing program for the spring of 2018? I just finished this rough semester and I was hoping there would be other people on here that I can talk to about this upcoming goal! (:

Hi everyone. Still taking my prereqs so I obviously haven't applied to the nursing program but since this is a thread for people who have, I thought I'd ask a question about HCC prerequisites. Does anyone know if I can take A&P I and College Algebra at the same time? I know that College Algebra is a prereq for A&P but I could've sworn I heard about people taking them at the same time so I wasn't sure. Thanks for any insight you can give and best of luck to you all!

I took my pre reqs at USF, so I'm not sure how HCC works. But I took A&P 1 and College Algebra during the same semester :) They might be corequisites (meaning if you don't take college alg first, you need to at least take them at the same time. i.e you can't take A&P first).

Hello all!

I am sure most(all) of us, are anxiously awaiting the update from the health sciences department. So to distract a little from that, I have a question to anyone that would like to answer.

What nursing specialties are you considering or what areas would you like to work in the most?

I'll start.... I'd like to work in the ICU or any trauma center. I would also love to receive my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, eventually.

I am basically in the same boat as you. My goal since middle school has been to become a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), so I would like to go into the ICU or something similar. If I don't get into a DNAP program, then I'll become a Nurse Practitioner, and i think I would want to work in peds.

You guys should probably get acceptance letters like around the first week of October . I applied to spring 2017 and got denied . Butttt I got accepted into the fall term . 500 applicants applied for fall . Last spring there was 400 applicants . And im pretty sure all the people that got denied for fall will be reapplying . Good luck!

I'm not 100% but I don't see why they would let you take them at the same time. It's not like your taking a higher and lower level math at the same time. They are two completely different subjects..

Hey! So I took AP2 MCB and COLLEGE ALG all at once... there's no issue with it as lonn as you can handle the load. I am in the fa 17 cohort.

My GPA when I got denied for spring 2017 was 3.42

GPA for fall was 3.57

What kind of classes are you learning? As you know, online it only says Nursing Process, but is that like Fundamentals or Pharmacology or Patho? Or is it like everything in one? I'm confused on how HCC does it :)

As of now it's just fundamentals for this semester .

I'd like to do the same. Start out in the ICU if possible and then move on to get my masters and become a CRNA. I'm afraid I won't be able to get right into tone ICU though.

Does anyone know if we can still use financial aid in the program? I'm worried that since the first semester is only 11 credit hours instead of 12 that my pell grant won't work..
