Hillsborough Community College Nursing Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone!

I hadn't seen a thread started yet for the fall '16 entry to the program and thought I would start one, since the application deadline is only 2 months away. I'm excited and nervous about the process....just hoping my GPA is good enough to get in. I've taken the TEAS V and just finishing up my last pre-req to apply. I'm currently in North Dakota and will be retiring from the Air Force next year. So, that alone is frustrating since I have to call or e-mail with any questions.

Who else is applying?

Chris

I can just buy the fundamentals of nursing 1st edition and the

medical-surgical nursing 9th edition

and clinical calculations ONLY for NP 1 ?

Yes you could just buy those books but you will also need the mental health book as well.. However by the time you get those books and the online codes you will have paid probably 400-450 for those books and the package with ebooks is 580. So by the time you got done paying for all of the books individually I think it all come out to like double the price of the package. You are also going to have to buy the Davis Drug Guide Book and The Nurses Pocket guide for NPI as well. I know it is a lot of money but you save money in the long run by just buying the package. If you are starting the 22nd, and haven't gotten your books yet, then you are kind of behind the curve because you need to start studying the drug calculations and make sure you have those down really good because you can't start clinicals without passing the calculations test and you only get two attempts. Hope all this helps.

Specializes in CNA so far.

Mary- I remember going on the website and it saying you must be accepted in HCC nursing program but I think it's a plus if you have your A.A degree. I'm thinking about applying because I will have my A.A degree before then.

I remember seeing that on USF's website. I'm really hoping that's all I need in order to apply for the concurrent. I still have a few classes left to take, then I'll have my A.A. That's great that you'll have your A.A. before then- I'd say go for it and apply :)
