Hillsborough Community College-Fall 2014

Published

Hello everyone,

So my dream since I can remember has been to become a nurse; however, it seems as if it will never happen. I recently finished my pre-requisite courses to apply to the fall semester of the HCC nursing program. While I did not get any C's I made mostly B's :blink:earning A's in two classes and one lab. I realize this is not good enough since it puts my GPA at around a 3.38. Since I did not fail any of my classes, I don't believe I will be able to retake them. Is there any possible way to retake them? Or any way to increase my GPA since they mainly look at the pre-requisite courses? If not, what other options do I have for becoming a nurse? If anyone is out there who could offer any help it would be greatly appreciated. I will submit my application regardless but I don't have any high hopes of getting accepted, if there is anyway to increase my chances I would be so grateful to find out!

I completely agree, I mean sure there is not as much competition but it is ridiculously expensive, I have to really think about it, and the thing is I don't have much time to make a decision. I have also considered an LPN program to the try a bridge program. I don't even know anymore. Please let me know what you do, I would love to hear any other options. :)

Sana214, congratulations for you acceptance! I was wondering if you still have the immunization form, and if yes, can you please, email it to me - [email protected]. Thank you :)

Thanks!! I e-mailed you the form. Please let me know if you got it. ☺️

Would someone please send me the immunization form as well? :) [email protected]

Sent you the form. Please let me know if you got it. :)

I would do the LPN program and then do a bridge program. Unless your ok with spending a ridiculous amount of money on a private school. It may take you a bit longer but you will make it. You will also be gaining some experience before getting into the RN program. :)

Hey there @sana214, I do not think I congratulated you on your acceptance ! :D So exciting !

I was also wondering if you knew of any good LPN programs that maybe are not so expensive?

@nursinghopeful2344 I am looking at the LPN programs at Brewster and Erwin tech. Brewsters program is about 5700 total.

That sounds great ! I'm wondering, after completing an LPN course, is it very difficult to get into a bridge program? especially since we have all our pre-requisites done already?

I've read bridge is much less competitive than generic ADN

Nursinghopeful2344, I think you should look at State College of Florida - Manatee county. If you are able to drive 3 time a week this would be a good alternative. Someone told me that you can apply without all pre-refs done and it is not so competitive. Google their website - applications for Fall 2014 are being accepted now in April... But if I am not wrong you will need to take TEAS test to get in.. If this does not work for you, I would suggest to reapply( if you can wait) or do LPN-RN bridge.. No matter what happens just keep trying.

Stupid question, applying for enrollment at SPC or PHCC doesn't affect enrollment at HCC does it?

No, it doesn't.... Also, if I'm not mistaken, the credits are fully transferable since last year.

I'm just torn, I don't know if to apply for HCC Spring a wait so many months just to find out if I have a chance. I was really considering SPC, but I would have to take a couple more of their supporting course, which gives me a chance to give my GPA a boost, but I have heard that even 3.8 aren't getting in and that they prioritze Pinellas Cty residents.
