Anybody applying ...? =)
Thanks Yuyo for the info! You said it is alot easier to get into USF nursing program after an ADN from HCC? Do you know if same goes for UCF nursing program? I too have a BS degree from USF but I didn't do the accelarated BS-BSN program at USF because my BS GPA is not "competitive" enough. So I'm doing the HCC ADN to BSN route. Do you know if the 180 credits include transfer credits from HCC nursing program for USF? As you can tell I have alot of questions!
Thank you Yuyo1960 for all these info! I read that you talk about childcares services, and I have a few questions about that: How can I enroll/qualify/apply/get that service? Is it available only at the DM campus or any campus you can be assigned to will have it. Who should I contact to in case you don't have all the answer?
Thanks
Hi, any college/university credits (national and international transfers included) will count towards the 180 maximum allowed to receive financial aid at USF. All HCC Nursing Program credits count too. As long as you don't reach that limit, you're ok. If you reach that maximum of credits the first semester at USF, you will need to get a private loan from a bank or a credit union to continue your studies. I am not sure if this apply to UCF, but the HCC ADN is transferable to USF. For the childcare services, contact (813)253-7000 ext. 7956. As long as I know, only DM and Ybor City offer childcare services.
My first choice was DM, I live only 8 miles away, but I get Plant City (38 miles one way). A week ago I switched campuses with a DM NP2 student who lives close to PC. Thank God. After all, I am going to missed Plant City. The instructors and my classmates were A+++++!!!!, very helpful and very close to each other.

No problem. I started reading in advance the first 8 chapters of the Clinical Calculations book. If you do not have the book yet, try to buy a previous edition, it is a lot cheaper, and study, study, study, practice, practice, practice...the book that we used is CLINICAL CALCULATIONS with Applications to General and Speciality Areas, 6th edition. It comes with a CD, please, take advantage of the cd. Use it every single day. You will thank me later. You need to get an 80 or higher to continue into the program. I think they will give you 2 more attempts. Also, a tutorial may be provided for students who struggle with math. I was an alternate applicant and my gpa was 3.56. I started Spring 2012. If you have small kids, that will be a good reason to request DM, because, as long as I know, is the only nursing program campus that provides with childcare services. Another thing is you may apply for the Tampa Bay Force Alliance WIA training program. If you qualify, they will pay for your tuition and books up to $7,000.00. This is going to sound funny, but it is true. If you have a Bachelor's degree in another discipline, it is easier, a lot easier to get into USF Nursing Program that HCC. The problem is as soon as you reach 180 credits at USF, financial aid will cancel any scholarships/student loans forcing you to get private loans. The best route, in my opinion, to get a BS in Nursing is finish your HCC ADN, get your RN license, and transfer to USF. The USF now offers the RN to BSN program online. USF prepares you better for the NCLEX-RN examination, but HCC prepares you way more better as a bedside nurse.
