My understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is that you can sign up to take the test in any of the states or in selected international places (like Hong Kong). When you take the test (regardless of WHERE you physically take it), you need to choose ONE state Board of Nursing (BON) to recieve your NCLEX results. You can choose any BON in the US or US territories (like Guam). That BON will receive your NCLEX scores and also review the package from your nursing school (whatever material is needed to support your application for a license.) Then, the BON of that state will determine whether to grant you the RN.

One way that you could use this information is to test in a state where the waiting time to take the NCLEX is less... For example, if you are looking for a NCLEX time soon, and no times are available in your state soon, you might want to look to neighboring states to see if any earlier testing times are available. So, for example, if you live in Florida and there are no times available in the next month or two to take the NCLEX-- but you really want to get it done-- you might want to check out available test dates in neighboring states-- maybe Georgia, for example, has openings right away to take the NCLEX. If you took the test in Georgia, you would just need to specify that you want your results reported to the Florida BON. That way, you could get the test done sooner without waiting for a spot in FL to open up.

If there is not a license number posted with your name and the others are posted that took the test the same day...... unfortunately it most likely and probably indicates that you did not pass. Here in Michigan when we are seeking to verify if we passed the NCLEX our license number is posted, if no number appears the verification site will just continue to say pending. I hope this helps............

You register with a Board of Nursing in the US for NCLEX exams, you then take them at any Pearson-Vue center that offers them. Currently, the exam is offered in London, Seoul, and Hong Kong, as well as US teriitiories such as Guam and the Marianas Islands (Saipan).

Let me straighten out a few things for you. You apply to a state for licensure. Which means that you submit an application for licensure by examination to a Board of Nursing where you are currently residing or planning on working. Once they have accepted your educational credentials, they will send you a letter that states you have met the requirements, and are permitted to sit for the NCLEX exam. At this time, you pay the fee to Pearson-Vue, they get verification from the state as well, and they will send you the ATT (Authorization to Test). You can then take the exam at any center that you wish, Hawaii or even Hong Kong, if you want to throw in a vacation before you begin work.

Hope that this helps clear up things.
