Hey NY nurses,
I have a question for those who worked and who currently works at HHC hospitals. How long after filling out an application, whether it be paper or online, did you hear from them? And also were you a new grad and how receptive are they to new graduates?
Thanks in advance!

I applied several times and have not received a response! I hear that they are receptive to new grads though. My friend was hired with little experience a few years ago.

Hiring freeze but I was just hired as a new grad at a HHC ltc facility because of language skills i possess. They prefered new grads here it seems to me.. Im a lpn so maybe it's different but i haven't seen any new RN here still using agency nurses.
Thanks for the responses!

I was fortunate, I submitted my online application (2009) and the nurse recruiter called me the next day. I was hired at the interview but it took a while thereafter to actually start orientation, because a line had to be created for my position.
Also HHC just got rid of all their agency nurses, and a hiring freeze was just imposed. And we were advised that we will be doing even more with even less.
Thank you. You were lucky to get hired on the spot. Were you a new grad at the time?
No I was not. But in my orientation group were two new grads.
In my facility we have mostly agency.
