Hesi Test

I'll be taking the HESI in spring. I am confused as to what suject matter will and won't be on the test. For example, in the HESI Review manual there are study areas, Gerontological nursing and advanced clinical nursing.

1. Will the above examples be incorporated into the Med. Surg. part of the test or will they be left out completely?

2. Is there any particular order that you suggest to study the material?

I am anxious because I haven't done well on the practice HESIs that we take following completion of classes, but than again I didnt study for those since they were always following a final that was for a REAL grade.

Thanks for your help.

Does anyone have experience with the HESI as an interim requirement?

My school requires an 80% score on a HESI at the conclusion of the second semester (2 year RN program). We get 2 chances...if we don't attain 80% we have to repeat the entire second semester.

Is this a normal approach to HESI? In any case, does anyone have any suggestions on prepping for the interim test? I got a 79.6 on the first try and I am worried over the second attempt....DO NOT want to repeat a semester.

Thanks,

Ohiostudent

we have to get a score of 85 as well, try this address http://www.myhesitest.com/students/selfstudy.asp to order the nclex-rn study book and HESI practice CD if you haven't already done so. Study the HESI tips in the book like people have previously said to do.

Yep. I had an entrance HESI, mid term HESI after 2nd semester and exit HESI. Get used to taking them! As a PP stated, study for them just like the NCLEX, and use them to help you determine what areas you are weak in. It will break it all down for you and let you know your strengths and weaknesses.

Okay, hopefully you're studying now for it. I have taken HESI 3 times and only get one more chance. If you have the HESI review book try to read the entire book and focus more of your time on Med-Surg and Adv Clinical Practice. I heard that OB is weighed heavily on the test so study that also. I didn't spend too much time on the other areas. Now all your lab values and diets. The exam will have a lot of questions that you won't read in the review book so pull out your text books. We need 900 and I got 721, 835, 859. I believe I would have passed it this last time (yesterday) if I didn't have a panic attack during the test. It is so stressful to get this far and held back for this stupid test. I know in my heart that if I took boards today I would pass.

Just spend all your time studying and God's Blessing.

Hi everyone,

I'll be taking the Hesi as well and Im assuming it's the entrance test since I have no prior nursing exp beside working as a Unit Clerk in the ER for the last year and Im taking it to see if I can get into Boheckers LPN program so I can then go into their RN program. Would you still suggest using a NCLEX study guide? I have no idea what Im in for so any tips would be helpfull. I seen an advertisement for some flash cards but mostly reading what you all have to say here.
