HESI-RN Exit Exam

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hello everyone I am new to this site and had a couple of questions. I am in my final semester of nursing school and will be taking the HESI-RN exit exam in a couple of weeks. I am already really paranoid because I only have a couple of attempts to pass it with a min. score of 850. I would like to know if anyone out there has taken it already who could tell me how the exam is and offer me any tips for successfully passing it.

Thanks

I am very happy you asked about the hesi exit exam. I took mine on May 5th and failed with a score of 841. I was devastated. I have to retake it again on June 16th. For me, there was a good bit of stuff that I hadn't seen or heard of before so my goal is to basically complete the saunders book. I hope you don't have to go through what I did. I have pretty much just gotten myself together from it because I was an A/B student throughout nursing school and to fail this test at the end was really hard on me. Just study an familarize yourself with information that you do not know. I'm sure you'll do fine. Please let me know your outcome.

Good luck.

Hi, There...I am so curious is your school in the Northeast. In 2004, it took me nearly a year to pass this HESI exam. We had to pretty much perform and insurrection at the University. It was made as a graduation requirement after the fight it is now only part of the final course grade and not needed to graduate. It was a huge struggle for me but after 1 year I finally got my degree. I do not have my license though. I had a 3.3 GPA plus worked full-time but could not pass the HESI. :uhoh3:

Hello everone. New to the site. I graduated on May 14, 2008 with all my family and friends there to support me, knowing that neither myself, nor 60 members of my graduating class had passed the hesi. We have once more to try at the end of june or we have to take another year of nursing school. This is a nightmare. I already have a great job lined up which is due to start in the 2nd week of July!! We have taken the hesi practice tests in school at the end of every semester and have not pass any of them. Now the exit exam is much harder and contains none of the questions from the previous hesi exams thru out the 2 years of school. I am very frustrated and do not know how to study for this exam. I have 2 hesi books that do not seem to help me at all. I have 3 children who are counting on me to provide a better life for us, please tell me how to pass this thing!! :(:scrying:

Oh wow...that IS a nightmare....what kind of scores is the class pulling?!?! What does your school consider "passing"?

Has anyone at your school counseled everyone on what to do, how to study, or offered any help at all? That is just unbelievable and really, so very sad!!

Best wishes on Try #3!!

Our scores are in the mid 700's. We need an 850 to pass. Mine was a 725 to be exact. Only 10 people passed, some were LPN's. We have gotten together and discussed questions to try to remember what to study. The school does not prepare us at all for hesi, only for nclex. We only get 2 tries for exit hesi, 2nd one is the one in june. Thanks for the luck, I need it!!

Yeah it is. At our school, we also have two tries to pass hesi and the needed score is 850 and unfortunately, I got an 841. I was devastated. Just like sunshine, if we don't pass, we have to do another year as well. it sucks. We take it again in June. I have been reading Saunders and the Hesi Book. Also, there is something called hesi practest that you can purchase off evolve and a friend of mine used that to study and she passed. Anyway, good luck to you. Off to do some studying.

Ugh, I hated the Hesi exam. We were required to take it, but we weren't required to get a certain score on it (in fact, were told not to study for it).

Good luck to you!

here's some motivation for ya...i took the hesi exam in january, i think i MAYBE got somewhere in the 600's. Awful, i know. I took NCLEX on 7/12 and passed with 75 questions in about an hour. Goes to show its possible to do poorly on HESI and well on NCLEX (the test that matters:D)
