HESI should be banned in every state like it is in New York, the STATE BOARD EXAMINATION should be the only test a student nurse should have to take after finishing their nursing curriculum to determine if they will be safe, effective nurses...

I have not heard of this ban in NY. As a matter of fact, at my school we take at least one HESI every semester for our first three semesters, and 3 HESIs during our last semester.

What HESI scores are required for you to complte the program?

We get a number grade and a conversion percentage grade for every HESI we take. (for ex, a 980 and 89%) In the first 3 semesters, the HESI is considered the final exam and is counted towards your class grade. An 800 is recommended, but not necessarily needed to pass the class. (If your class average is high enough not to be affected) If you get below an 800, you take a remedial class the following semester.

In the last semester, from what I understand, 3 HESIs are taken, and an average of 76.45% for the 3 HESIs must be achieved.

What HESI scores are required for you to complte the program?

That is an attainable goal to acheive. Good luck.

the school that I am faculty at uses the HESI as a means to gauge how the students are doing, and a tool to evaluate curriculum. We do not use as a requirement to move on to the next level or to graduate. We do not use it as a grade either. I do know that many schools do use the HESI as a grade or requirement for graduation. I think this is deviating from the purpose of the HESI test. It is a tool to indicate success at passing the NCLEX. It can help students focus on their areas of weakness. However, I think that the main purpose that a program can use the HESI for is to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum.

I just had my 3rd HESI and I got 870, which was not enough for my school.. Going into the program I signed up for 850, and at the last semester they decided to raise our score to 900!!! Is this legal to do that???? There was about 60 people in our class and maybe less then half passed still on their 3rd try of HESI!!! I never failed a course or droped, straight B student too! Is there anything I can do?? Maybe sue the school because we should of been "grandfathered in" to the program! Any ideas would be great to know! Thank you !
