HESI Exam

Published

Hi guys!,

Have anyone taken the HESI A2 exam prior to taking nursing courses? If so, could you please tell me what is on the test such as the format, what is the best way to prepare for the test. Are there any websites that provide sample test questions to practice? Thanks.

The study guide helped but I won't know my results until November 9th. The school I'm applying to won't give our results until everyone has taken the exam. Good Luck

just to bug you with a few more questions:uhoh21: Were the questions in the study guide similar to the ones on the test? I am concerned that the test will be harder, especially the math, it looks so easy in the studyguide!!

My school requires that you take it before applying tot the nursing program, and you have to get a 65 overall. We are tested on Math, Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading, and A&P. We get the score at the end of the test also. I took a HESI Prep Course that my school offered, which did help, they gave a lot of insight into the exam, and I also have a study guide, so I am planning on doing very well. I'm going to try my best to not let it worry me, and just go in a defeat it! Good luck to everyone who is still needing to take it!!! ;)

I also took the HESI exam prior to any nursing classes. I believe the passing grade is 80% It wasn't too bad, it had basic math, english grammar, A&P, chemistry, vocabulary. The math part (which is what I was most worried about) was pretty basic, from simple additions, to some fractions, a calculator was even allowed, and it was even an option in the computer during the test. The chemistry section had some terminology and balancing equations (I didn't do well on this part). The best thing is that the test is all cumulative, so even if you fail one or two sections, but do well in others you'll still pass. Your school should have a review book, mine was mainly copies (not worth the $27) but still a good way to review. Good Luck!

Our school requires us to take review exams for each nursing class EACH semester. We must pass all of them before graduation in order to take the NCLEX. We used to use ERI testing but we are now switching to HESI exams. I'm also wondering what they're like since the ERIs gave us practice tests and we're told that the HESI doesn't have practice tests.

I actually had to take the hesi twice. The first time was really hard because I had NO idea what to expect. Once I found out that I didnt do so well. I went to barnes n nobles and got a study guide. I study that day and night for 2 weeks and took the hesi last thursday and I aced everything with a 90%+ on everything. It seemed easier on my second try, maybe cause I studied and refreshed my brain a little. Dont freak out the first time and leave enough time in your scheduling to study if you dont get it the first time.. Good Luck!!

Thanks so much for the information. I took the test last Monday but I won't know my results until November 9th. Congratulations on a great score.

I took it last month and I got my score right after I took the test.

Relax people you dont have to make an 85 on the hesi you have to make an 850 or a 900 out of 1600. that is basicaly a55% or 60% its not that bad!just practice, practice, practice. good luck and god bless!:yeah:

Hello everyone! I am scheduled to take the HESI exam on June 29th and I am really nervous! I am not the best at math but with a calculator I am pretty good. Sadly my high school only taught us with calculators. I am a Medical Assistant and have been for 6 years I was told that already being in the medical field should help me out but some people said that it don't help at all.. I am getting all this mixed feed back on what study guides to be using and that they don't really help. I am super stressed and nervous. I was going to go to school to become an LPN and took the TEAS Test and passed, I am just not sure about this HESI exam.. Anyone have positive feed back or any helpful tips? This is a big step in my life and I don't want to screw it up. I am a single mom and can not make it on a wage of a Medical Assistant. Please give any feed back to help. Thank you!
