HESI A2 vs. TEAS entrance EXAM!

Published

Hi!

I will be taking the TEAS entrance exam next week, I have taken (and passed) the HESI A2, and I'm curious how similar/different they are? I was not required to take any science or chemistry on the HESI but will be taking it on the TEAS exam, how difficult is the science section? Any pointers you can provide for the test will be greatly appreciated! :) Feel free to add any comments you have on the RN program at the Akron Institute in Ohio as well, I am applying for their January '10 program!!

Thank you for the help :heartbeat Have a wonderful day!

I did the worst of all the sections on the science portion of the TEAS. With that being said, it was not a difficult test. I ended up with a 90 as my overall score. Most people have the most difficulty with the math part...just know your ratios and conversions and you'll be fine. The chemistry part on the TEAS is not what I'd consider "real" chemistry...I've never taken chem and I did okay on that portion. For some reason there was a lot of "earth science" on my test...volcanos, clouds, etc.

I have the same question for you..I have taken the TEAS 3/4 and will take the HESI A2 in september. How do the diff and how are they the same? Thanks so much!

Hi all, pls i am apply to two different schools and each require different test(HESI and TEAS),i have the the HESI test book and Mcgraw hills test book, people say TEAS is more difficult, i am so confused, do i need to get the TEAs text from their website too? pls has anyone been in this situation before.pls i need some advice i really dont know what to do.thanks

Hi :) I have taken the HESI and myself did not pass the math portion, TWICE! It all depends what your strong areas are. Math is not mine. Now my school has switched to TEAS and I have to take that. I know this TEAS is the version V and it has a chemistry and "life/earth" science. I would recommend buying the Teas study guide. Im trying to look for it else where, it so expensive :(. Good Luck.

i recommend purchasing the bundle pack from ATI TESTING- it includes two practice exams. If you do well on their practice exams, you will ace the teas/ the practice is much more difficult than the actual exam! Remember, if you use ONLY the TEAS study guide, you will pass, if its not in the TEAS guide, it wont be on the test. I have taken both TEAS 4 AND 5

Hi,

I have taken the HESI A2 and received an overall score of 90%. My worst section was math which I got a 79%. I got a 100% on the reading, sentence completion, and grammar part.

With that being said, I just took the TEAS V test a couple weeks ago. It was the HARDEST test I have ever taken. The reading, sentence completion, and grammar sections were not too hard. The math was difficult, but doable. The science was insane. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry while I was reading and trying to answer the questions. I did buy the ATI TEAS V study guide. It helped a little, but not a whole lot. I did hear a tip from someone who was taking the TEAS V with me. She said to study a GED book for the science and math part. If I fail, which I am pretty sure I did, I will definitely be purchasing a GED book.

Unfortunately, the school I am applying to (and took the TEAS from) doesn't let you see if you passed or failed the TEAS until you receive an acceptance or denial letter in the mail. They will then tell you what your scores were. Ugh.

Good luck!

Sara
