Hi, I am applying for UT health science center and was wondering what people have scored on their Hesi A2 exam..?, so I can see what the approximate average score is....

Mine was

1) Reading Comprehension: 86.96

2) Meaning-Word Use: 100

3) Conclusions: 100

4) Implications: 91.67

5) Understanding: 75

6) Grammar: 94

7) Vocabulary & General Knowledge: 90

English Language composite Score: 90.32

8) Biology: 84

9) Chemistry: 100

10) Anatomy & Physiology: 96

Science Composite Score: 93.33

11) Math: 100

Cumulative Score: 92.99

Critical Thinking Score: 820

I was wondering if anyone that has taken the Hesi, use a particular book to study for the vocabulary section. I did not do well on that section and I can not even think of any words that were on the Hesi.

Precise,

I suggest you try Quizlet.com and type in hesi in the search box. I was recommended the site for the vocabulary portion of the Hesi. It's worth a shot and they do have different links with different words.

Blue River,

I am taking mines at the 290 location and what study guide did you order..... When o you want to start the study group?

i actually thought the critical thinking was pretty hard...

Trishajlee

what kind of question do they ask on the critical thinking

I thought the critical thinking was pretty hard too. I didn't think it was common sense - it was triage type questions like who would you treat first out of these types of patients, or what would you check first if a patient presented with this specific condition. Stuff that I would expect to learn in nursing school.

Also, they say that all the answers are correct answers, but depending on the one you choose, demonstrates your level of critical thinking. So I thought that made it more difficult.

WOW, Thanks for all the help and I agree that those kind of question should not be asked on the Hesi.....

trishajlee,

Since I am apply at UT do I have to take the biology and Chemistry section of the Hesi beecause on their website it just said to take the a and p, math, reading, grammer, vocab, critical thinking and personality styles.

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.

just a reminder.........

from what i've heard from others earlier on the thread, they wont even look at your bio or chem results so you dont have to take it. I didnt know that at the time, so i just took it since it was there.

and yes, critical thinking was exactly like serene peach said. i did not like that section...

Thanks Stayfocus.

I guess because i work at the hosptial, the critical thinking was easy for me. Sorry. :)

I don't even think you will have enough time to complete chem. & Biology if you did have to take it with the other 8. I had 47 min. remaining after i completed my Hesi.
