1/5/2018 HESI A2!!

Published

Alright, I'm taking the HESI A2 in less than a month from now. I have a few questions regarding this exam.

1. How difficult is the math? Is is just like the math that's in the pocket prep app?

2. The A&P? I got told it's the most problematic section for most students. I have been using the pocket prep app like crazy studying.

3. How about the grammar & reading comprehension. I feel those are the easiest subjects for myself but I know they can be tricky. I also been using pocket prep.

My school is requiring math, grammar, reading & A&P, along with the critical thinking.

Im wanting to pass the first go around. Help?! I will be glad to post my scores after the test to help anyone out.

The math section is very basic! Just make sure you know how to do proportions and ratios (majority of your test will be this). Also know how to add, subtract, divide, and multiply fractions(great amount of questions were fractions). There were a few conversions of the metric system. Glance over military time (I only had 1 question) and glance over Roman Numerals.

Pocket Prep will help you TREMENDOUSLY on the A&P section. Know your muscles, hormones, and all organ systems. Know the types of joints, and the movements for each joint. Also know examples of each joint. Know the anatomy for the ears and eyes! (I had about 3 questions pertaining to those). I have to repeat this again lol MUSCLE AND HORMONES. Also know examples of bone ( ex: long bone, flat bone, sesmoid, irregular)

Reading Comp was about 2-4 short paragraphs and you have to determine the main idea, what was being implied, and making inferences. Very straightforward! Grammar was pretty easy as well! Make sure you focus on (affect vs effect) ( there, their, they're) (further and farther) (were and was) (subject-verb agreement). Most of my questions were " Which sentence is grammatically correct" or "Which word fits best in the sentence" It will be tricky if you don't pay attention.

My Overall Score: 87.5%

Reading:86%

Grammar:88%

Math:92%

Anatomy:84%

Critical Thinking:920

Hope this helps :)

kbriscoe2 , congratulations!!! You did so well. Please, what advice can you give pertaining to critical thinking section?

Thank you.

Thank you.

For critical thinking just select the answer that benefits the patient! Keep in mind always put safety FIRST. Also, make sure the patient is a top priority. It's nothing too hard just read each answer choice carefully!

Thank you so much ma'am.

I will be taking the HESI exam on the 18th and I too am freaking out!!! is there anyone on here who's taken it? I am mainly using the pocket prep app for studying, is that enough?? I am taking the Grammer, Biology, A&P, Math and Reading Comprehesion sections.

I listed my scores, and my advice on the first comment.

Thank you so much! this will help me out a lot. I cannot wait to get this exam over with. ;)

This will help as well!

Let us know how you do

Math is actually pretty easy, just study whatever is in the practice book. I got mostly ratio's and proportions with some converting fractions into decimals and percentages. The pocket prep also really helps with math since they provide explanations. For A&P I did the worse with an 80, for studying I used the pocket prep, crash course on youtube, quizlet, and cliff notes. On the exam there will be some questions on each organ system. My advice would be to study the basics and not to dive into too much detail. For reading, I would say just to take your time and re-read through the passages (this section usually takes an 1 hr for most people so manage your time wisely or you will run out of time). For grammar I just used the review book, just review basic grammar skills also know the difference of further and farther. Good luck!
