Greetings,
My friend and I are getting ready to study for the Hesi a2 test and we have a few general questions that we were hoping that someone would be kind enough to answer.
1) Is the Hesi A2 test subject matter the same for all schools? The adviser that we talked to today mentioned that the math portion extends from basic math to trigonometry to algebra. In all the books that we browsed at Barnes & Nobles we couldn't find any math past basic Algebra.
3) What math topics should we look over?
3) Is a basic calculator allowed?
4) Has anyone taken the Hesi a2 for Chamberlin who could offer a bit of insight?
5) What advise would you offer? Anyhting would be appreciated. We want to be as prepared as possible.
Thank you in advance. I know bits and pieces of this have been discussed on this forumn in the past but I am looking for reassuance so I know what content to study before I jump into the test.
Best,
Keith

I took the HESI A2 for a school in Michigan. We were only required to take the math, grammar, reading and vocab sections. A calculator is provided on the computer for you. My math portion only went over things in the official HESI study guide, mainly ratios, conversions, and very basic math. I know many schools also make you take the A&P and Chem sections also, so you should check with your school! Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. That is really refreshing. From what I am gathering from other websites, this forum, and nursing school admission tests I have browsed through at the library the math portion doesn't go much higher than basic algebra and geometry.
In case anyone is reading this who might be studying for the chem and A&P section of the test if it is required for your program I have a suggestion. I have been doing searches on google by using their advanced search function. Specify that you want the searches to only send you .ppt files. This way you will be able to find classroom powerpoint presentations with google. You can also search for a PDF which is pretty helpful.
Anyone else have any HESI advice?

You'll be relieved at how easy the math is. Nothing beyond basic algebra. And stupid Roman numerals!3) What math topics should we look over?Again, get the study guide. That way, you won't waste your time studying math skills that are not on the test.3) Is a basic calculator allowed? No, a calculator is built-in to the computer program. 4) Has anyone taken the Hesi a2 for Chamberlin who could offer a bit of insight?5) What advise would you offer? Some schools want the biology, chemistry and A&P portions, others don't. Some only use the grammar and math section When I was studying for the biology section, one of the most useful resources I found was sparknotes.com, which really boils things down to the essentials. Remember, if you are taking it on a computer, once you answer a question you can't go back to that question. So choose your answer carefully! I found I had plenty of time to take the test and think about every answer.

No, a calculator is built-in to the computer program.

Hope this info is helpful. :) Good luck!
Chamberlain requires the science portion of the test, but I don't know how they weight the sections. The advisor I talked to noted that I needed to recieve a 70% on the math and verbal portions. I like sparknotes.com.
