I had my hep b 3 dose vaccination done when I was a child but tested my blood which came back negative, around the 8 range. I'm having the series reapted I got my first shot today and I'm wondering if that will be enough to put me over 10mIU/ml and become immune.
I also was wondering if there is such thing as an abbreviated series. I've read of a 0, 7, 21-30 day series? Would it be safe to get the shots done sooner? I am entering med school here soon and was not expecting to run into any issues.
Ps. I do to osu if anyone has experience here let me know

Hello! You have to double check with your particular school's requirements, but for mine, if your titers came back negative as long as you could prove you started your Hep B series by the time paperwork is due, you were fine. I don't believe having just one injection will be enough to push you over the needed antibody count to be considered "positive" but again, if you can prove you at least started your series you should be fine (if you program is similar to mine).
Just to give an example, I had orientation early June and my paperwork (vaccines, titers and such) was due mid July....since obviously a month and a half isn't enough to get the whole series done...as long as the first shot had been administered and proof of a scheduled second and third shot was submitted, I was still cleared and able to enter my program.
I don't have any knowledge on an abbreviated vaccine series, sorry I hope some of this info helps. Make sure to check with your program!
