HEP B Vaccine

Published

What is the cheapest route to go to obtain your Hep B vaccination?? At the county health dept it's $65. Or should I wait to get into nursing school to worry about it?? I figured I should get some things done now, while I have a little time. Is it any cheaper to have in done on campus??

$65 for the series is cheap, it is usually that much for each injection elsewhere. My school requires Hep B, luckily I worked for a Dr. for 7 years and he gave me mine for free. My advice, get it out of the way now because expenses are going to start hitting you even harder, not too mention it is a scary and easy disease to get when you are in healthcare.

That is a good price. Usually it is that per shot.

I agree that that's cheap, I think mine were like $40+ each - at the health dept.

The Hep B vax are actually optional for my school - but I'm getting them anyway (as soon as I wean my toddler)

Yes, all the major vaccinations are ok when you are nursing, manna. I got my Hep B series, & I've also gotten 2nd MMR, tetorifice, and rubella vax's during bf.

Guess what guys...? I was wrong!! The shot at my local health dept is $65 per shot! however I did find a place who will do it for free, but the only thing is I will only be able to get the first two shots, the last one will have to be at my expense. The offer ends in July, that is why. I think that is pretty good. Does it matter that I will have to get the final shot some place else??

It shouldn't, I got mine in two different places and my titer was fine. You could always ask to be sure.

They test your blood to make sure the vaccines worked and you are immune to the virus. :)

As long as you have your shot records you should be fine. I'm lucky I went to school in Canada (went to high school here in US). In middle school is when we got vaccinated free (but thats Canada everythings free...lol). I just did my PPD today ,also, so now I have 2 shot records to send to my school (I forgot my original one at home). I think I have every vaccination known to man, anthrax, small pox etc. (thanks to good ol' army). LOL :)
