Has anyone gotten their Hep B Vaccine series started yet? The one place I found that would do it, stops giving it after age 18. (I'm a wee bit over 18)
Anybody found a good place for the series yet? Please let me know!

All my healthcare employers have offered it to me when I got hired. Some healthcare providers offer immunizations to the public. I remember Planned Parenthood was offering certain immunizations. Also you can get it at a private physician's office or the county health dept.

I started mine last month.
I went to my county health department.
It was not easy, as they only have one office where they do adults, all the other offices immunize children only. Plus, there are no appointments, so it is first come, first serve, and once they reach the limit for the day, they stop letting you in the door. Be sure and call first and find out all the details before you waste a trip.
I opted for the combo Hep A and B. It is $53 per shot - 3 shot series over 6 months.
Best of luck!
Lemme just add some info, I don't have a job at a hospital nor do I have health insurance, so I'm out of luck in that department. I tried the East Jeff Health Dept (I live in Metairie, Louisiana) and they were the ones that said only under 18.
Anybody that lives in New Orleans or Metairie have any ideas?
In the worst case, I'll go ahead and shell out the big bucks and get some physician to do it but hey, I'm just a poor college student!

I got my Hep B at the Wellness Center in Covington. At first they said no b/c I was over 18 but then the office said that it was ok and gave it to me. It was only $10 per shot and they were really nice. The State supplies them with only a certain amount of each vaccine, but they mostly deal with WIC, food stamps, basic mother/child healthcare so I don't think their demand for Hep B is very big. Call them first b/c it has been a while since I received them. 985-871-6030. Their address is 1505 N. Florida St. Covington, LA 70433. Good luck!

I went to a public health clinic and I was told that the hep vaccine was only given to children under eighteen, but if I had already started the series they could finish it. So I went to Occupational Medicine in Baton Rouge and got the first shot for $65 and then I went back to the public health clinic for my other two shots.
There is also a place called Capitol City Family Health Center in Baton Rouge (phone number 225-389-8880) and it is pretty cheap. You pay on a sliding scale according to your income. Call before you go.
You can get the VDRL (Syphillis blood test) at the Delgado STD clinic (phone number 504-658-2540) off North Rampart street next door to the police station. If they have the hep vaccine in (sometimes they run out) it is free or at least it was a year ago. They are not the nicest people and they don't take appointments. Sometimes they even close early if they are short staffed, so call before you go.
Here are a few other clinics that I have heard of:
Algiers Community Health Clinic, 4422 General Meyer Algiers
Ida Hymel Health Clinic, 1111 Newton St . Algiers
Covenant House Health (Downtown), 611 North Rampart New Orleans

I got mine at the Slidell public health clinic. (It's in the professional building across from Northshore Hosp. - I'm lazy, I'll let you look up the number.) I brought the info that I needed this for school and had no problem getting them (I've had the first 2 @ $10.00 a pop). Actually, I'm glad you posted this as it reminds me that I'm due for my third.

I ended up getting my 1st Hep B and the T/D shot at the Common Ground Free Clinic in Algiers. They're very nice over there. Have to go back in 2 weeks for my second. Now I just have to work on all the other shots I need to get, not to mention the physical. ;(
