I heard that US dialysis nurses have it easy than Philippine dialysis nurses. Is it true? Here in the Philippines (at least in the dialysis clinic where I work), we do almost everything. We prime the dialyzer and bloodlines, ready the machine, cannulate accesses, initiate treatment, cleanse and dress permcaths and temp caths, monitor the pt., secure blood works, terminate treatment, etc.

This is the same as RNs do in the US.
Don't forget making bicarb, and hauling the jugs. RNs do that, too.

i am a filipino, presently working in the middle east as a hemodialysis nurse, yes, those are precisely the main job for us,plus being responsible to monito and rresuscitate if the needs arises, for my knowledge,as a technician, then you are responsible for this technical work, giving medications are resposibilities of RN plus the referrals together with the patients conference

If you work in the out-patient clinic, there are techs to mix bicarb and cannulate patients. In acute hospital settings, it is the job of the acute dialysis nurses to all the setup and tear-down/disinfect procedures. At least now, we do not have to mix the dialysate by components like we used to do for the sorb type machines like the redy2000.
