HelpTaking the NCLEX for the second time in two weeks!

Published

I took the NCLEX for the first time in July 2016, I honestly didn't feel prepared. I used ATI last time around and failed at 265 questions (worst 6 hours of my life). Now I'm scheduled to take my test again in two weeks, I did a three week review from ncsbn, and am now doing Uworld, where I'm currently at a 55%, but I just started and that's only 110 questions answered. What I'm wondering do y'all think this is enough to pass the NCLEX? Should I be doing more, honestly I'm scared to death of being in there taking another 6 hour test.

I am a repeater I took my NCLEX April 2016 failed with 221 questions; the study material I used for that exam was Kaplan. I was devastated but immediately sent in my paperwork to my BON again and this time around I used two different types of study material that help me out tremendously. I used HURST and UWorld. I tested again November and my unofficial are in and I PASSED with 75 questions!!!! My best advise to you is be confident & KNOW WHEN YOU ARE READY to test and relax !! This time around I was A LOT more disciplined but it can be done. Good luck =)

Congratulations to u USRN... godbless on ur new career...by the way, for the uworld, what did u choose? the one month subscription? then which type, qbank or online tutor or live? thanks

You have one month to basically completes as many test questions as you want. it has a bit more than 1900 questions.

Thank you so much !!! You will share this same overwhelming emotion of joy soon enough ;) . I did the one month subscription & it was solely online material. The questions on UWORLD are awesome & really challenge you. UWorld likes for you to shoot for a score of 60% or higher. I was in the 64th percentile before I took my exam.

Thats good to hear.. is it the qbank that u chose?

I was in the same boat as you just a few weeks ago. You will get through this! It sounds like you have prepared a lot, and I hope you feel a lot more confident than you did the first time because confidence is KEY. I didn't feel very confident my first time either and failed in 265 like you, but I studied my butt off the second time and went in feeling way more confident.

Do NOT worry about the # of questions. It doesn't matter how many questions you get, just that you give your all to each question. Sure it'll suck to get 265 again but if you go in planning for it, with all your snacks in your locker, ready to show that computer what you're made of even if it takes all day, you'll get through it much easier.

My #1 advice would be FINISH UWORLD! It is seriously the best. I had a notebook where I would write down all my rationales in my own words which really helped me. I would flip through them before bed each night. During my last 10 or so days before my test I still had quite a bit of UWorld to go through so I did about 125 q/day. Doing UWorld the week before my test REALLY helped with my confidence because the questions are so hard. I took 2 days to "rest" before my test, just studying lab values and simple charts I had made. I ended at about 52% avg on UWorld.

I went into the test telling myself I had done all i could and the rest was up to god. And that test was so much easier than it was the first time. I ended at 100 questions and was very confident I passed.

This will be your story soon

What a very inspiring story @RNBY21... thank you for sharing your ideas to us... did u purchased the one month or 2 months review? Is it the UWorlds qbanks ur referring to? How many months i need to review b4 exam? im planning to take by next year 1st quarter Gods willing.. is it ok if i choose the month?

Thank you so much for the advice, I'm really liking Uworld a lot. I lost a whole day of studying yesterday cause my son wrecked on his longboard, and we thought he might have broke his radius growth plate, he luckily did not break it, I'm so thankful. Now today I am playing catch up. I was wondering when you did Uworld did you take your tests in tutor or timed?

Yah in addition to @rnby21, by the way guys which one u choose as ur option?, the "tutor", "timed" or "qbank"?

Good luck to you all

Hi there, I took the NCLEX Nov 2nd and failed in 75 questions. I did kaplan religiously for 2 to 3 weeks. All my friends who did Uworld passed!

How long did it take to get your ATT the second time? I reapplied and payed 200 on PV and 150 on breeze.

Thanks and GOOD LUCK!
