Hi Everyone, Currently moved to Pittsburgh from Chicago, because of my husband's work. First of all I have been having a hard time adjusting to this new city, (I lived in Chicago all my life). I have been an ICU RN for 7yrs and worked in a level 1 facility back in Chicago. (I have great experience and good references ).My current issue is finding a job here in Pittsburgh, where are all the nursing jobs? I expected more ICU jobs to be available. I can't believe there is none or maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places! Can some one in the Pittsburgh area give me a heads up where to look? I would really appreciate it. Thanks helpless searching

I am an RN in Pittsburgh, and there are plenty of ICU's, I just don't know what hospitals/units are hiring right now. I would suggest looking on http://www.upmcjobs.com as that will have listings for Presby (wich is a Level 1 trauma center, they have Trauma ICU, as well as being a transplant center). There will also be listings for Mercy, which is the other UPMC trauma center. Of note, Mercy has the only Burn ICU in the area. If you area willing to do medical/surgical or Cardio-thoracic, you might look at Shadyside Passavant. Outside of the UPMC system, I would suggest Allegheny General Hospital, they are also a trauma center.
Thanks I have actually looked into all those locations, my application is in, still waiting, Thanks for your reply, I'll keep trying;)

Yes, where have you applied? I am sure there are ICU jobs available at Presby.
I applied at Presby , went to an interview everything went great waiting for a reply. Hope I get it, thanks:)

When I was hired by UPMC, it took a while for them to contact me initially, and a few weeks between interview and job offer. This was not for a nursing position, but hopefully it helps give some perspective.
Thanks for taking time out to reply!!
