Help With the NET, Reading Comprehension

Published

I aplogize if you've read this already, I think I've posted everywhere looking for answers.

I am taking the NET again this summer. Last summer I only got 63 on my reading comprehension and the school I want to go to requires a minimum of 70.

Now I'm trying to study for it again but focusing on the reading comprehension. I don't remember much from the time I took it, it was all a blur. But does anyone know if the it was as difficult as the GMAT reading comprehension?

UGH I AM SO FRUSTRATED

The reading comp. in my opinion is tricky...I scored an 84 on that part but I think a lot of people try to "read more" into the question than what it is asking for. I got the NET study guide and I read it over and over for 6 months before I took the test and there is some online tests that you can do for but I am not sure exactly where they are at. I think I googled everything possible for the NET when I was studying for it. If this is your second time then you know basically what those tests are so just relax and you will do fine!!! I wish you the best of luck!!:heartbeat

Quick question about the NET for anyone: if my school requires a 50 in reading, writing, and math, does that mean getting 50% of the questions correct or what?

Thanks

yes. good luck!

Your positive a 50 composite means 50%? That is totally doable and I feel fortunate when people are saying they need 75%'s! Thanks for the quick response Panda! I test on the 25th...Keep you posted. The reading comprehension section is my only question mark as of now...

The best thing to do is to call your school and find out for sure. I have seen a lot of schools who require only a 50% on the NET, these schools usually look at GPAs as well though.

As a update. I PASSED YAY!!! i got 100 on my math and 82 on my reading. wooohooO!!! the reading I had was on hibernation and sleep walking. hibernation was a bit harder to understand than the sleep walking.

thanks to everyone for helping!

Get the stuyd guide and study study! The actual test is very similar to the study guide, in my opinion. I felt that the actual NET was a little harder than the guide for the reading section, but a little easier than the guide for the math. Of course, this could just be because of my own skills.

Good luck!!

I don't have any secrets! As a matter of fact, the first time I took the NET I scored 63 on reading. The only thing I did different since then was study my butt off! I spent at least 2 straight hours a day just reading news articles, looking up any word that i don't recognize, and I did as much SAT/ACT/GRE reading comprehension questions I could find. the only difference they have from the nET is that these standardized tests often ask you to recall details from the passage whereas the NET will never ask you that. In other words, the NET is much harder.

The other piece of advice I have is to get the study guide, get the online practice test.

Feel free to let me know if there's anything else i can help you with.

Oh yea, and try to score as high as you can for math. For a lot of folks math section comes easy, but the faster you are, the more chance yuo'll have to come back and double check your answers. It's your composite score that ultimately matters so drop the math.

I cant agree with you more, I just received my NET study guide and I usually find reading Comp easy, but the NET is so different and harder for me its completely different. Im happy that at least I know what Im getting into and how to study before I go and take the test.

Somehow I know all the hardwork it will pay off in the end:rolleyes: :nurse:
