I wore business casual to my first day of orientation (which was just one week ago). A few wore their scrubs. The entire day was dedicated to getting to know the medical center, meeting the HR director, reviewing benefits, icebreaker activities, etc.
Congrats on your new position and Good Luck!
I'm curious as to why no scrubs? I mean, you've already got the job, and the job entails wearing scrubs. I wouldn't wear prints or anything like that...when I get hired I always ask what colour scrubs and go buy some. Maybe it's different in a smaller facility, but in larger places, I'm pretty sure the CEO isn't going to remember me, no matter what I'm wearing. Plus every time afterwards any of those orientation people see me, I will be wearing them. If I have to sit through 8 hours of folks droning on about fire exits and late policies, I'm going to be comfy (but in my professional uniform).
Maybe it's just me. Heck, the last two jobs I got, I wore scrubs to the interview (after working 12 hours), and got the jobs.

I recently got hired (finally) to work per diem in a small, rural hospital in their immediate treatment/urgent care center. I received a letter telling me about orientatio tomorrow and to bring a form of ID and my Imm. records. What do I wear there? I'm assuming the first day is full of paperwork and new employee stuff. I'm just not sure, do I wear scrubs or do I wear like nice casual? I'm assuming nice casual?
I also have no idea what to expect, they did not tell me much. This is basically my first real RN job since graduating last May and becoming licensed. I did work as a camp nurse/health director for 3 months, took a little time off to enjoy it while I could, then have been applying for jobs the last couple months....
Thanks for the help, would appreciate it!
