You have to go thru CVS, you can download the form at http://www.cgfns.org. You can read thru some threads you'll get the idea how to apply.

You cannot apply for the exam, you have to apply for licensure as an RN in the US and be accepted to sit for the exam.
Since you graduated out of the country, you will need to go thru the CVS process and that takes an average of about six to eight months. NY will not even look at your application until they receive that from CGFNS.
You will not be able to take the exam anytime soon for NY. Please take the time to do some reading on this forum, there is much information that you need and you can find it in the stickies at the top of this forum.
ohh thanks..its a really big help..do u think guys i can work in some hospitals here even i am not a license nurse yet? just want to have a part time job while reviewing for the exam.
Do not think that you have your EAD yet and a SSN#. Both are required for you to work in any capacity anywhere. The EAD is a document that permits you to work while waiting for the green card. It usually takes several months for you to receive, it is not immediate.
i already applied for SSN the other day and they say that i will be recieving it within 10 days to 2 weeks and fiancee visa's are allowed to work legally till my I-94 expires and it will be on april 24,2007.Suzane i really appreciate ur replies i hope u wont mind me asking again about this. i am a BSN graduate so im i allowed also to take the NCLEX-PN or graduate of BSN can only take NCLEX-RN?cos i am planning to take NCLEX-PN too.
your reply is really much appreciated

Everyone that I know of that comes on the fiance visa has the EAD, you may have it already if you were able to apply for the SSN#. You actually need that document to apply for it.
You can take the PN exam, but why? You are still going to need to go thru the same process to be able to do that in NY. The CVS will need to be completed.
Please also remember that you need to be married by that deadline or your visa will be revoked and you will need to leave the US. You are only given the 90 days to get married in.
You will also find that most facilities will not hire if you only have less than three months to be legally in the US. You are going to want to have that EAD that will permit you to work.
From the employer side of it, why spend the money to train if they do not know that you will be there longer for sure?
I have not seen one nurse begin to work before they had the EAD in hand. That can be applied for as soon as you are married.
yeah i know about the EAD thing and i am going to get it and adjust my status soon after we get married.me and my fiance are planning to get married maybe next month or maybe 1st week of april.anyways, so i really can take nclex PN?what about taking both nclex PN and NCLEX-RN? is it possible? and by the way suzaane whats the JOB difference of Practical nursing and a regestered nurse?
You have to go thru the process of applying for the PN license, same way that you would do for going thru the RN process. There are significant differences in the jobs, as well as pay.
One application does not take care of both.
You can do a search on this forum to find the specifics. But you went to school for four years to get the BSN after your name, take the time to focus on passing the RN exam. Preparation for the PN exam is different.
which is more the easy exam, the RN or the PN? do u think i will be having difficulties in studying and taking the exam for PN cos i study BSN? or the concept are just more likely the same?

exam I don't think any are easier, they cover different things to a certain degree. I would have thought you would be better just taking the RN, just spend your time whilst waiting for EAD studying RN NCLEX
do i still have to take IELTS or TOFEL before i can take the licensure exam here in NY?
