I'm a new grad currently orienting on a telemetry floor. But after my orientation I'm going to a general med-surg unit. Weird, I know. But there's already a lot of orientees on the floor I got hired for so they had me orient on a different unit.My problem right now is that the manager on the telemetry floor is offering me a full time 7p-7a position. It's a little tempting because I really want telemetry experience. The nurses on the floor including my preceptor are encouraging me to get telemetry experience because they say if you can make it in telemetry, you can make it anywhere. I am just hesitant because after 1 week of orienting on the telemetry floor, it's been crazy hectic! The turn over rate is ridiculous. I'm so overwhelmed, but I am learning sooooo much! I see the nurses stressing and it scares me! I don't know whether I should take the telemetry position or go to the med-surg floor.Does anyone here work in a telemetry unit 7p-7a? How is it? Is it still busy? How is the turn over rate during the night shift?
