Help!!

Which borough are you in, and how much time and money do you have?

We need to know this to really advise you about YOUR options.

I'm in Queens. I would like the quickest route if possible becasue I feel like i should be established by now the way most of my friend are. As far as money I will be looking into loans and grants.

LaGuardia. It's hrd to get into these programs, though, because they are so inexpensive compared to private schools. Do you have any science classes? Did you have a high GPA? Those things will both help.

First I would like to say thank you for replying. I have few science classes and my gpa isnt the greatest because back then I didnt have a goal so I was just going to school to do something with my life but didnt care about grades. Its a 2.8. so I think i should just start applying to many colleges and see if I can get in anywhere. Do you think it makes a big difference if I went to a community college like Queensborough when I start looking for a job? Do people look for something better like a private college?

I guess you need to start by asking yourself what you want to end up with. If you want an associates, then go for the associates program. But if you want to end up with a bachelors, then go for the bachelors from the start.

When you start looking for a job, most places aren't going to look at community college vs. private. I guess some places might, if there's no shortage of nursing in that specific area, but most places have a nursing shortage so they can't be too picky.

If you have the time, since you've already got one degree, I would try for the Bachelor's degree, as that's the degree that in the long term, years from now, you might find yourself wanting.

Going ADN first is a good option as well because that gets you in the door and there are a wide variety of job opportunities as well. There are many ADN to BSN programs where you can get your BSN later.

I would talk to some admissions counselers, find out the requirements and waiting lists, and then start to decide. You might find the BSN requirements much more stringent, or the ADN waiting list much longer, so gathering more information by talking to the schools directly would be a start.

It can be confusing.

i've recently decided to make a career change and so I finally decided that I wanted to go into nursing, and so far that's the only decision I've made. I really don't know what to do next. I've been looking up different schools here in New York but I don't know whether I should go for an associates so that I can start working in the field earlier, and then transfer to a 4 year for a bachelors or just go for my bachelors from the start. The only kind of schooling I have is an associates in liberal arts. Also, how do I chose what school to go to...there are so many. I would really apreciate it if someone could help me out.

i went to queensboro and my gpa was 3.0 for the pre reqs and 3.3 for every thing else and i did not get into the nursing program. i was also a transfer student

as a transfer student - they give you last preference at queensboro. dont bother

try nassau community college- theyll allow you to redo the science courses to bring up your gpa go check the website ..i dont know if anything changed

i went to a 2 year school over the 4 year because i finished faster. i plan to get my bachelors through accelerated program for 1 year one day per week only

while i work as an rn now.

you can also try downstate hospital they have accelerated program for 1 year if you have your bachelors degree in any field

They won't care as long as you have a valid RN license. Don't think about LPN - very limited scope of practice in NYS, and jobs are disappearing daily. This LPN will attest to that.

You will be accepted to a private school. If you can afford a private college by all means go. You'll save a lot of time. Honestly, your GPA is not adequate to get you into a CUNY school and you'll spend a LOT of time bringning up grades and being waitlisted.
